We had a free upgrade, which was a lovely surprise! The location was perfect as we were mainly doing things around Shoreditch and Spitalfields, which are both walking distance. We were also able to walking easily to Borough Market with various things to do on the way! The hotel staff were amazing, really friendly and welcoming. The room was brilliant, clean and had everything we needed in it.

It was my first time staying at the Gate and I got the warmest welcome from Mohammad. He checked me in and offered me a complimentary upgrade, which honestly made my day. The hotel itself was lovely and clean, room was stunningly decorated and equipped with everything you could need for a super comfortable stay. Lots of wardrobe space for those planning a longer stay. The property is also a 5 minute walk away from the tube station so it’s very accessible and there’s lots of shops within walking distance. Overall I truly enjoyed my stay here and I will definitely be booking more stays in the future.

The property itself is very close to bars, the underground, Spitalfields with plenty of dining options. The apartment was well equipped. The only downside was an issue with the air con. We reported this at reception as the room temperature reached 24° and we were told someone would look in to it. When we returned it hadn’t been fixed, I’m not too sure anyone had even looked at it and no one knocked on the door later that night to see if they could fix it. After a long day exploring the area we were just too tired to ask again and most importantly, I feel like we shouldn’t have to report the same issue twice. It made for a slightly uncomfortable night and a speedy exit in the morning.

Staff was great! Washer/dryer combo offered in some rooms, but be careful damaged my clothing even on low heat. Small rooms, barely enough room to pass by the bed. There was a lot of hair that was not mine in my room, maybe from the cleaning staff.

We loved staying here but.. lower score for cleaning in bathroom just needed a more detailed clean. I was unsure how to use the electric hob so instructions would have been useful. A few more kitchen items would be good such a baking tray , different sizes cups, items to wash plates etc. I wasn't expecting to buy washing up liquid, dish cloth etc. Absolutely brilliant location, the breakfast was outstanding and the staff were really attentive. The beds were also very comfortable..perhaps a bathroom shelf would be good. Overall a brilliant stay and would without a doubt stay here again.

Super convenient. Walkable to district line for transport. Close to the Elizabeth line by bus or uber. Walkable to London bridge and Tower of London. Right at the site for the Jack the Ripper tour. I had a little apt that included washer/dryer and small kitchen which was very convenient. 5th floor has complimentary tea and or coffee 24/7.
