Garut Railway Station

Cibatu Station is a class II train station located on Jalan Cibatu, Sindangsari, Garut, West Java. The station which is located at an altitude of +612 meters is included in the Operational Area II Bandung and is currently the largest active train station in Garut Regency. The location of this station is about 21 kilometers north of the capital of Garut Regency. The position and relatively large in size make this station become the main departure station for residents of Garut to travel in various directions on Java by train.

Cibatu Station is one of the oldest stations known in the Dutch colonial period. Established in 1889, this station has become a stop for European tourists who want to travel to the Garut area. This is also because the natural conditions of the Garut region at that time were indeed very beautiful and made it became one of the favorite areas of European tourists.

Garut City

Garut is a district in West Java, Indonesia with the capital city of Tarogong Kidul. The district is bordered by Sumedang Regency in the north, Tasikmalaya Regency and Majalengka Regency in the east, Indian Ocean in the south, and Cianjur Regency and Bandung Regency in the west. Once a Favorite Place by Famous People

The legendary comedian Charlie Chaplin in 1927 had set foot on this station. At that time, Charlie Chaplin and actress Mary Pickford were on a holiday trip to Garut.Besides Chaplin, another person who was recorded as setting foot in Cibatu Station was Georges Clemenceau. He is the founder of the newspapers La Justice (1880), L'Aurore (1897), and L'Homme Libre (1913); and prominent political writers. Clemenceau became Prime Minister of France in two periods, 1906-1909 and 1917-1920. After Indonesian independence, President Ir Soekarno also visited Cibatu Station on a series of trips using an extraordinary train via the southern route.
