The Klaten Station, referred to as Setasiun Klathen in Javanese, is a class I railway station located on H Samanhudi Street, Tonggalan, Klaten Tengah, Klaten Regency.
This Klaten Station is part of Operational Area (DAOP) VI Yogyakarta. It is situated close to the bypass road that surrounds the Klaten city area. With 6 railway tracks, tracks 1 and 2 serve as straight tracks. Most of the trains traveling on the Solo-Yogyakarta route make stops at this station.
Some of the trains that pass through Klaten Station include Argo Wilis, Bima, Wijayakusuma, Gajayana, Sancaka evening schedule, Malabar, Turangga, and Mutiara Selatan. The station's location is near the Ir Soekarno bus terminal, facilitating access for public transportation users.
The station is equipped with complete facilities, including parking, self-ticketing machines, waiting rooms, direct ticket booking at the counter, information center, prayer room, toilets, commercial areas/shops, nursing room, battery charging stations, and smoking area.
Tugu Station, also known as Yogyakarta Station, has been in operation since May 2, 1887, and is the second railway station in Yogyakarta after Lempuyangan Station, which began operating 15 years earlier. Initially, the railway line in Yogyakarta was constructed to transport agricultural produce from Central Java and its surrounding areas, connecting Yogyakarta, Solo, and Semarang.
In 1905, Yogyakarta Station started serving passenger trains. Today, it has evolved into a major station with six railway tracks, serving business and executive class trains to various cities in Java. However, the route to Semarang via Magelang is no longer in operation.
The uniqueness of this station lies in the placement of the station building between the platforms and railway tracks, known as a two-sided station, a feature commonly found in larger stations. The front of the station building faces east, towards Mangkubumi Street as the axis of Yogyakarta city.
Apart from being a passenger station, Yogyakarta Station still functions as a maintenance facility for trains, with these facilities located in the western part of the station, slightly separated from the main building and passenger platforms. The station's facilities include D-30 and direct ticket reservation services, waiting rooms, toilets, restaurants, prayer room, hotel, car, motorcycle, and parking reservations.
