There are two stations in Semarang, namely Semarang Tawang Station (SMT) and Semarang Poncol Station (SMC). But between the two, only Semarang Tawang Station serves departures to Blitar.
Semarang Tawang Station is a large class A train station located in the Kota Lama Semarang area, Tanjung Mas, North Semarang. So while waiting for the train to arrive, you can walk around enjoying the atmosphere of Semarang Old Town and taste the various culinary delights around it.
Its location in this tourist area makes Semarang Tawang Station easily accessible using public transportation. You can use the Trans Semarang Bus or Trans Jateng Bus that operates every day. Other options include taxis, motorcycle taxis, or private vehicles because the station has an adequate parking area.
In addition to a fairly large parking area, Semarang Tawang Station also has other supporting facilities such as prayer rooms, toilets, and various food courts. The station even has a Premier Heritage Lounge aimed at executive passengers. So they have access to drop off directly from the boarding area as well as private parking.
Premier Heritage Lounge provides various entertainment facilities including cable TV and WiFi services. Customers can also enjoy food & beverages that have been provided. Meanwhile, non-luxury train customers are allowed to enjoy this facility by paying an entrance fee of around Rp60,000.
Blitar has five stations that are actively operating until now, namely Blitar Station (BL), Garum (GRM), Kesamben (KSB), Talun (TAL), and Wlingi (WG). Among the five stations, only Blitar, Kesamben, and Wlingi serve train arrivals from Semarang.
Blitar Station is a large class B train station located in Kepanjenkidul, Blitar. The station is famous for its statue and photo of President Soekarno inside, indicating that Soekarno was buried in Blitar.
Another option is Kesamben Station (KSB), which is located in Kesamben, Blitar. Although it is a small train station, Kesamben Station does not only serve passenger train stops. Rather, it also serves the crossing and arrangement between trains.
The westernmost station is Wlingi Station, located in Beru, Wlingi, Blitar. This class II railway station has a fairly important role because it is the main station in Blitar Regency. Almost all passenger trains that cross the Kertosono - Malang branch line on the southern and central Java Island will stop at this station.
Given its important role for many passengers, the stations in Blitar are equipped with various facilities for passenger convenience. Starting from comfortable waiting rooms, ticket and information counters, loss complaint points, prayer rooms, toilets, and others.
The stations also have easy access on average. You can use public transportation such as mikrolet or angkot which uses MPU cars. In addition, you can also use motorcycle taxis or taxis that can be ordered online or offline or private vehicles.
Traveling from Semarang to Blitar takes about 5 to 6 hours depending on the schedule and route taken. The earliest available departure schedule is at 02.40 using the economy class Majapahit train. You will arrive in Blitar at 08.13 at Blitar Station or at 08.40 at Wingi Station.
The last departure will be by the executive class Brawijaya train at 21.32 and will arrive at Blitar Station at 03.01 or Wingi Station at 03.25. However, the executive class train ticket on the last schedule has the most expensive price, which is Rp430,000.
However, this ticket can be an option for those who prioritize comfort because the trip only takes less than 6 hours. In addition, night travel can also allow you to sleep during the journey so it doesn't feel so long.
