Trains remain a favorite mode of transportation for many people, including residents of Tangerang. As time goes by, even more stations are being utilized. However, currently, most stations in Tangerang primarily serve KRL Commuter trains.
There are many station options in Tangerang, some examples include Tangerang Station (TNG), Poris Station (PI), Batu Ceper Station (BPR), Jurangmangu Station (JMU), Tigaraksa Station (TIG), and others.
Most of the stations in Tangerang are indeed actively used. However, for those planning to go to Semarang, one of the fastest routes is to take the KRL from Batu Ceper Station. This is a Class 1 Railway Station located in Poris Plawad Village, Cipondoh District, Tangerang City.
Stasiun Batu Ceper is located at an elevation of 11 meters above sea level. In addition to serving KRL Commuter journeys, it caters to KAI Airport trains. Initially, the station only served KRL Commuter trips, but since 2017, it has also served the KRL Airport Soekarno-Hatta.
The facilities offered at Stasiun Batu Ceper are excellent. For example, a sky-bridge connects the KRL and Airport trains, a prayer room (mushola), escalators, parking facilities, toilets, ticket machines, waiting rooms, commercial areas, and many more.
For those planning to go to Stasiun Batu Ceper, plenty of transportation options are available. For instance, you can take public minivans (angkot), district transportation, Transjabodetabek, Transjakarta, Trans Kota Tangerang, or motorcycle taxis (ojek).
Semarang indeed boasts a variety of tourist attractions that draw people in. One of its culinary highlights is the city's famous lumpia, earning it the nickname "Lumpia City."
For those planning to travel to Semarang by train, two main stations are serving long-distance journeys: Tawang Station (SMT) and Poncol Station (SMC). Both are significant stations, albeit in different classes.
Tawang Station is located at Jl. Taman Tawa No. 1, Tanjung Mas, North Semarang. It is a large Class A railway station within Operational Area (Daop) IV Semarang. Situated at +2 meters above sea level, it offers numerous facilities, including parking areas, self-service ticket machines, a prayer room (mushola), and more.
Meanwhile, Poncol Station is located at Jl. Imam Bonjol, Purwosari, North Semarang, Semarang. It is a large Class B station equipped with various facilities, including self-service ticket machines, a prayer room (mushola), a food court, and more. This station is the second-largest and is situated at an elevation of +3 meters above sea level.
The locations of Tawang Station and Poncol Station are close to each other and are considered strategic. They can be reached by various modes of transportation and are near a range of tourist attractions. Some transportation options include minibusses, Trans Semarang, motorcycle taxis (online or offline), taxis (online or offline), and even traditional pedicabs.
Trains are admittedly a comfortable mode of transportation for various purposes, especially for exploring tourist destinations in the homeland, including the journey from Tangerang to Semarang. However, if you plan to take the train to Semarang, be prepared for multiple transfers.
There are several route options, but a relatively straightforward one is to take the Commuter Line from Batu Ceper Station to Duri, then from Duri to Cikarang, and finally from Cikarang Station to Semarang Station. The total duration of the journey is approximately 7 hours and 18 minutes.
The cost ranges from Rp100.000 to Rp400.000, covering the fare for the KRL Commuter Line and the train ticket from Cikarang to Semarang.
