There is only one station that serves departures from Wonogiri to Solo, namely Wonogiri Station (WNG). This small class train station is located in Giripurwo, Wonogiri and is part of the Yogyakarta Operating Region VI.
Wonogiri Station is precisely behind the market as well as the public transportation terminal. No wonder if reaching this station is very easy because you can use public transportation or private vehicles.
You can also use other public transportation easily because this station has been integrated with other transportation. Use Trans Jateng corridor 7 with route S2 which has a route from Tirtonadi Terminal to Wonogiri Terminal.
Although it is a small class station, Wonogiri Station still has adequate facilities. Starting from toilets, ticket counters, information centers, and various food stalls around the station. However, the parking area is quite limited so it is better to use public transportation.
There are four stations in Solo Raya that serve train arrivals from Wonogiri, namely Nguter Market Station, Sukoharjo, Solo Kota, and Purwosari. Nguter Market Station is a small class train station located in Nguter, Sukoharjo.
Activities at this station are not too crowded because there is only one train that stops at this station. In fact, many people say that this station only resembles a bus stop because of its small size.
After Nguter Market Station is Sukoharjo Station located in Gayam, Sukoharjo. You can easily reach this station using Trans Jateng with route 7 (S2).
Meanwhile, if you want to have activities in the city center, stop at Solo Kota Station. This station is located in Sangkrah Village, Pasar Kliwon District, Surakarta City.
No wonder the locals often refer to it as Sangkrah Station. This small class train station was built in 1922 which is still in the territory of Surakarta Sunanate.
Finally, there is Purwosari Station which is a large class C train station. The station is located in Purwosari, Lawean, Surakarta with more services than any other station on this route. The station is famous for the instrumental melody of the Bengawan Solo song that is always played during train arrivals and departures.
The station serves intercity trains of various classes for the southern and central parts of Java Island. Not only that, Purwosari Station is even a stopover for airport, agglomeration, and commuter train departures.
The station has also been integrated with other transportation including Batik Solo Trans with routes K1S and K2S. Another option is to use an ojek or private vehicle because there is a sufficient parking area.
Although there are differences in size at several stations in Solo Raya, the facilities available are quite adequate. Some basic facilities include toilets, parking areas, ticket counters, and waiting rooms to wait for the arrival of the train.
The train ride from Wonogiri to Solo takes about 90 minutes depending on the route you choose. The trains that operate on this route are iconic as they run right beside the main street of Solo. As such, passing trains can safely coexist with other vehicles in the vicinity.
There are only two scheduled departures from Wonogiri to Solo each day, in the morning and afternoon. Likewise, the reverse route from Sole to Wonogiri also has the same number of departures. The first scheduled departure from Wonogiri is at 08.00 am while the second and final schedule is at 12.00 pm.
Another uniqueness is found in the very cheap ticket prices with the same nominal for all stations on this route. The ticket price that passengers have to pay is only Rp4000 at any station where you will get off. For example, if you get off at Purwosari Station, the price to be paid is the same as when getting off at other stations.
The price equation given also shows that there is no class difference in the Ketera Batara Kresna fleet used. To buy tickets, you can order online or through ticket counters located at the station. Although it's easy to get tickets, make sure to bring your ID as you'll need it.
