Flight from Butuan (BXU) to Siargao (IAO)

Flight from Butuan (BXU) to Siargao (IAO)

The Philippines is one of the famous holiday destinations among the tourist. One of the best destinations in the Philippines would be Siargao Island which is a tear-drop shaped island in the Philippine Sea situated 800 kilometers southeast of Manila in the province of Surigao del Norte. With all the blue skies and clear as crystal ocean, Siargao is the best gateway to escape from the pollution and stress from the city and Perhaps the main reason why one would go to Siargao is the water sports, especially surfing. Siargao is the surfing capital of the Philippines.

Best time to fly from Butuan to Siargao

The best time or the tourist season for Siargao is based on weather, is between March and October as this is the dry season. Naturally, the off-peak season would be November to February. But when exactly to go depends on what you intend to do. August till November would be the best time to go surfing. This is when the swell and wind conditions are at their best, so you’ll find perfect waves to catch. You'll catch the waves on the east coast (Pacific Ocean side) because the winds will be from the North East, especially during September. For those who love the open seas and fishing, March to May would be perfect for you. There are, however, fish that can be caught all year long, such as the Yellowfin Tuna, the Mackerel, and the Mahi-mahi if you ever miss the golden chance during the months. Besides fishing, March to October would be the times for kayaking because the winds are not so strong, and there are lots of sunshine to reveal Siargao’s crystal clear waters. Go all out and explore the place while kayaking, making sure to check out the Daku, Guyam, and Naked Islands, as well as Cloud 9 and the Mangrove Forests because this would be the best gateway for you.

Highlights attractions in Siargao

  • Cloud 9 Pier - It is rated as the best surf break in the Philippines. Whether you are a die-hard surfer or not, a visit to Cloud 9 on Siargao beach will make your day, especially around sunrise or sunset. It located on the southeast corner of Siargao Island in the Philippines. Cloud Nine surf can be found in the small town of General Luna, the most popular place to stay in Siargao.
  • Magpupungko Rock Pools – It is 45-minute moped drive from the main tourist area of General Luna, the rock pools are exposed at low tide and are an excellent spot for hours of exploring and cliff jumping. It is an epic little area, with coves, caves, and cliff jumping spots aplenty. There are multiple spots to get your backflip on if you are into a bit of a jump. When you get the tides right, this is a truly magical spot and one of my favorite places to visit on Siargao Island.
  • Tayangban Cave Pools – It considers as one of the best caving spots in Asian. For 15 minutes, you swim and float in darkness, only aided by torches. Bats fly around you until you finally emerge to the open cave pool where you can cliff jump from seven meters. At the end of the caves, there is a cliff jump spot into the 18ft deep water which always rewarded the tourist for their effort.
