Hotel is in a great central location opposite Cardiff castle with easy access to the train station. On arrival the receptionist was excellent made us feel really welcome and the free room upgrade to a suite was a lovely experience. Hotel foyer looks great and a real wow first impression. We stayed in room 136. The room had all the amenities you could need however the rooms a very tired looking. Lots of sinks and marks in the walls, very old yellow stained sockets and plugs made charging phones a challenge with no usb outlets, thankfully the tv had one to use. Bathroom had all the bits you expected, bath was a bit on the small side and the shower was very powerful which was great however made it a challenge for the water to drain quickly enough so you were ankle deep in water by the end of the shower. The mattress for us personally was a little soft and not that premium feel you get from chain hotels but did the job and we had a pleasant sleep overall. Carpet could have done with a good hoover, crumbs where visible in several areas, paying for early check in you would have assumed these details would have been checked, it did not detract from the stay just some feedback ongoing. Overall we would stay here again as the benefits very much outweigh the negatives.

The room was clean, however, the carpet was stained, and the chair was stained also. The room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The shower had really good pressure and hot water. The breakfast was good also.What, this hotel needs his an ejection of venture-capital. It is a beautiful hotel that would benefit from a few upgrades. The staff were helpful warm and friendly.

Rooms were large and old but in a very good way. Reception staff were okay really. Very very disappointed with parking,on website it states small car park first come first serve which was fine BUT when we arrived the car park was cordoned off which meant we had to park at the NPC @£32 which we did not budget for so disappointed! Food menus not up to much and while a no smoking hotel,the terrible terrible smell of marijuana on the 2nd floor was overwhelming

As soon as we walked into the room there was a smell of urine the carpet was quite dirty. And the bathroom the window was clear glass with just a net curtain for a front facing room not impressed at all.

Definitely needs a desperate refurb. Rooms are looking tired and we had the worst night ever as mattress on bed was saggy, old and baggy, windows dont open and no air con, so although we had a fan, it was sticky on the hot night. As my husband said, saving grace was a powerful shower and night large white fluffy towels. Breakfast was fine but wish id spent a bit more and gone elsewhere

Check in was easy and quick, and when we had a slight issue with our room, it was resolved brilliantly for us. The room was a little bit tired, but great for the price. Bathroom was gorgeous and clean, water pressure was perfect! We parked at the NCP which was very close by. Loads of nice bars and restaurants within walking distance too. We stayed here for a concert at the castle and the location was PERFECT! And couldn't hear a thing from the venue with the windows closed. Would stay again.

Shocking experience! Don’t be fooled by the pictures, our room was old, poorly decorated and bore no resemblance to the pictures on the site. Breakfast was shocking with many items not being replaced when they ran out - despite being down for 8:30.
