Super duper great stay at WOLO, the hotel is very clean, amazing interior design, and love the grounding smell of essential oil (maybe) at the hotel lobby, the staff are all very nice, polite, and helpful, super easy access for public transportation as it just nearby. Great Hospitality! Just that, for those who wish for a quiet staycation, might find it slightly difficult to adjust to the environment, at night you could hear the sound of janitor's door slamming hardly next to the room (my room just right next to the elevator), the sound of car and motorcycle racing on the road, but hey, never mind its located at Bukit Bintang, could not expect to be a quiet place to stay, haha. Overall, the hotel is really strategic and location-wise, will be my number one choice for my next entire trip to Kuala Lumpur.

Clean room, standard amnesties. Breakfast was good as many choices available to pick. Parking is free complimentary from the hotel which is very economic for the pocket. Apart from that long queue was seen during peak hour on the weekend for check in. Anyway, it was one of my fav hotel list that I am sure to stay there again.

About Kuala Lumpur accommodation

About Kuala Lumpur accommodation

KL isn’t just a layover: it’s a destination. One minute you’re sipping kopi at a heritage shophouse, the next you’re shopping twenty storeys up in air-conditioned bliss.

As Malaysia’s buzzing capital, Kuala Lumpur blends old-world culture with skyline sparkle (and the hotels are just as varied).

Stay among the street eats in Bukit Bintang, book a skyline view near the Petronas Towers, or opt for the leafy Bangsar. Whether you’re here for two nights or two weeks, there’s a Kuala Lumpur hotel stay that matches your trip style.

Where to stay in Kuala Lumpur

  • Bukit Bintang: This is KL in high gear, with neon lights, mega malls and late-night satay runs. Shop at Pavilion KL, snack your way down Jalan Alor, and hop on the Monorail for easy city roaming. Great for first-timers and anyone chasing buzz.
  • Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC): Stay here for skyline views and a luxury postcode. You're near the Petronas Towers, Suria KLCC, and that lush park you see in every postcard. Ideal for families, flashpackers and anyone with a spa day on the cards.
  • Petaling Jaya (Chinatown): A little grit, a lot of flavour. This is old KL with a new-school twist—think hawker stalls, lantern-lit streets and boutique hotels tucked behind shophouse facades. Budget-friendly and big on personality.
  • KL Sentral and Brickfields: Perfect if you’re on the move, KL Sentral is the city’s train hub. Right next door is Brickfields (aka Little India), where colourful temples and curry houses line the streets. A solid base for early flights or onward adventures.
  • Bangsar: Chill cafés, sleek bars and low-rise charm. Bangsar is KL’s answer to the inner west—creative, leafy, and just a few train stops from the centre. A top pick for couples, digital nomads or a laid-back city break.

How much is Kuala Lumpur accommodation?

KL’s got the price-to-perks ratio down. Even in the city centre, it’s easy to score a room with air-con, hot showers and skyline views without breaking the bank. On average, expect to pay around AU$41 for a solo stay or AU$81 for a double. Prices stay pretty steady year-round.

  • Backpackers & guesthouses: From AU$7 per night. You’ll find no-frills beds and sociable vibes near Chinatown or KL Sentral. Ideal for quick stopovers, late-night eats and early train hops.
  • Mid-range hotels: From AU$40 per night. Think air-con, breakfast buffets and great locations. Most are near public transport or shopping hubs like Bukit Bintang and KL Sentral.
  • Boutique & design hotels: From AU$70 per night. Expect mood lighting, local art and leafy rooftops. These stays nail the sweet spot between comfort and cool, often tucked into heritage buildings around Chinatown or Bangsar.
  • Luxury hotels: From AU$150 per night. Infinity pools, skyline bars and day spas come standard (especially in KLCC). You’ll find five-star polish just a few monorail stops from street food stalls.

Top-rated hotels in Kuala Lumpur

  • Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur: For sky-high cityscapes and five-star polish, Grand Hyatt nails the brief. Tucked behind the Convention Centre, it serves up sweeping Petronas Tower views, a rooftop restaurant (THIRTY8) and deep-soak tubs made for post-walking-tour legs. Right near KLCC Park and Suria Mall.
  • EQ Kuala Lumpur: Sleek, sustainable and central, EQ is a new classic in KL’s Golden Triangle. From the glass-wrapped rooftop bar to the lush spa floor, every inch feels thought-through. Walk to Pavilion KL or stay in and watch the sunset from your skyline-facing room.
  • The RuMa Hotel and Residences: Tucked just off the main drag near KLCC, The RuMa feels like a sanctuary with substance. Think copper tones, Malaysian textures, and a courtyard pool that feels far from the traffic hum. A calm, design-led base close to the action.
  • Dorsett Kuala Lumpur: Bang in the middle of Bukit Bintang, this mid-range staple has everything you need: comfy rooms, city views and a rooftop pool to soak off the day. You’re minutes from Jalan Alor food street and the Monorail.
  • Travelogue Guest House: On a backpacker budget? This cheerful Bukit Bintang stay keeps things simple and sociable. Private or dorm rooms, 24-hour check-in, and KL’s food and mall scene just out the door. Perfect for transit nights or longer shoestring stays.

Tips for finding the perfect accommodation in Kuala Lumpur

  • Pick your area wisely: Kuala Lumpur is big, bold and spread out. Want markets and malls? Base yourself in Bukit Bintang. Chasing luxe or skyline snaps? KLCC delivers. Chinatown’s best for budget and buzz, while Bangsar’s the go for cafés and calm.
  • Plan for the stopover sweet spot: KL is a popular stopover hub for Aussies heading to Europe or the Middle East. Got 24–48 hours? Stay near KL Sentral or Bukit Bintang for easy sightseeing before your next leg.
  • Use filters to skip the guesswork: Looking for a rooftop pool, 24-hour check-in, or a room near the Monorail? Traveloka’s filters can help you sort must-haves from nice-to-haves before you book.
  • Don’t overlook KL’s boutique scene: Some of the best stays aren’t the flashiest. Keep an eye out for heritage shophouses-turned-hotels in Chinatown, or design-forward spots like The Chow Kit.
  • Map it before you book it: KL’s footpaths can be patchy, and those “10-minute walks” often aren’t. Always double-check what’s genuinely close—and what’s a Grab ride away.

Hotel Capitol Kuala Lumpur
I had a pleasant stay at Capitol Hotel Bukit Bintang, KL. The location is unbeatable—just steps from famous spots like Restoran Chee Meng, Alor Street, and the vibrant city buzz. The room and bathroom were impressively clean and spacious, offering a comfortable retreat after a full day exploring. While the bed wasn’t the softest and the TV wasn’t a smart one, neither impacted our stay—we spent most of our time out discovering Malaysia’s incredible cityscape. Great value and convenience!
