8. Rowo Cangak Beach

Aside from Nanggelan beach, you can escape to the pristine Rowo Cangak beach. Unfortunately, it has no good facilities and transportation. 9. Love Bay

True to its name, the Love beach, within walking distance to Payangan beach, has a heart shape. The little paradise is accessible by climbing Bukit Domba for about 15 minutes. 10. Nusa Barong Island

Nusa Barong Island lies on the outer skin of Jember region. Administratively, the uninhabited isle belongs to the district of Puger.

11. The Research Center of Coffee and Cacao Plants

Jember, East Java is the only region that houses the research center for coffee and cacao plants in Indonesia. From here, the best coffee and cacao seeds are produced. They do not only become the export commodity, but the products are sent out to the entire Indonesia. It is unfortunate if you do not drop by at the educative attraction. You can engage in the tour so that you can get around the coffee and cacao plantation, enter the factory, see the whole process of cacao making, and taste a cup of hot chocolate or coffee.

To visit the research center, you can start your trip from the Mangli crossroads. Then, turn right and go ahead to Jenggawah. Within a 300-meter distance from the district square, take the small path on your right side (there is a sign). Of there, follow the main road spanning along 5 kilometers.

12. Botany Educational Park

Inaugurated in 2007, the Botany Educational Park would be one of the alternative spots to enjoy a vacation with your family. The recreational park is loaded with some Indonesian floras. 13. Gunung Gambir Tea Plantation

Jember is not always identical with the beautiful beaches, but the highlands can be underrated – the Gunung Gambir tea plantation is the evidence. 15. Meru Betiri National Park

Meru Betiri National Park is located within a vast area reaching from Jember to Banyuwangi. To get there from Banyuwangi, you can take the route of Banyuwangi-Jajag-Pesanggaran-Sungai Lembu-Sarongan-Kandangan-Pantai Rajegwesi-Sumbersuko-Sukamade. If you start your trip from Jember, it is accessible by taking the track of Jember-Ambulu-Tempurejo-Curahnongko-Andorejo-Bande Alit.

The forest covers some ecosystems such as mangrove, swamp, lowland rainforest. One of the points of interest in Meru Betiri National Park is the endemic turtle. 16. Tobacco Argo Tourism and Cigar Production

Jember has been the biggest tobacco producer in Indonesia for many decades. Thus, the region embraces vast land dotted by a large number of tobacco plants. A couple of large tobacco factories successfully expanding their market abroad are scattered here.

The factories do not only produce raw tobacco, but they are popular for their top-quality smokes and cigars – the products are even internationally recognizable. It is a bit common seeing Jember gets a lot of invasion from the global tourists jamming the charm. 17. Galaxy Park

Galaxy Park is always jammed by buses filled with kindergarten and elementary students when the holidays come. The parking lot is one of the busiest spots despite the distant location from the city center. The kid’s favorite charm boasts lush tapestries filled with greenery – Teletubbies Hilltops are the highlights. To interact with the animals, a mini zoo is provided for all visitors.

To reach the location from the airport, you can take a route heading to Tempurejo district. Turn left when you arrive at T-junction nearby a gas station on your left side. A few minutes later, you will see the park.

18. Glantangan Agro Tourism

Glantangan Agro Tourism is actually a sports venue for golf enthusiasts. 19. Bukit SJ 88

20. Gumitir Agro Tourism

21. Loko Lori Tourism

The lorry is an inherited object of the Dutch colonials. The old unused series used to carry some loads. Once you are in Gula Sembrono factory, you could try a new experience hopping on it. 22. Mumbul Garden

Mumbul Garden is an engrossing Jember’s attraction combining the concept of water park and farm. At an area of 24 hectares, the garden covers numerous plantations such as rubber, dragon fruit, banana, and falcata tree. 23. Museum and Library of Tobacco

The Museum of Tobacco is loaded with photography, literature, as well as a wide variety of tobacco-related appliances i.e. chopping machine and cutting engine. The thatch roof building miniature along with some information about the drying process of fresh tobacco is also displayed. By going museum hopping, you will get a broader knowledge about tobacco world from the history of cigar production. 24. Duplang Site

The person who maintains Duplang Site says that it has existed since the 10th century – even some believe that it was built in the 4th century. The location is within the pre-historic zone of East Java as well as the Triwulan and Kendal. There is a varied array of well-kept granites and rocks i.e. menhir, watu kenong, dolmen, and many others. The complex is also overgrown with many plants, adding the exquisiteness of spot. 26. Manggisan Waterfall

28. Lereng Raung Waterfall

Lereng Raung waterfall does not stand solely. It comes with seven beautiful cascades. When it comes the day of exploration, you need to be careful as getting wet or slipping down could be the risk. The stream is flanked by the captivating edges overgrown by plants and moss. 29. Sumber Salak Waterfall

Sumber Salak waterfall is always dubbed as the little Niagara waterfall. Both waterfalls have relatively similar appearance although the level of altitude is distinct.

It has clean and beautiful surrounding – unlike some public spaces which are full of dirt, it is even spotless. Additionally, the water is cool, refreshing, and great for washing your pale face. Although it has no large amount of water and current, you must remain cautious. If you are non-swimmer, do not plunge into the 5 to 7 meter-ponds.

30. Watu Ondo Waterfall

Despite its low height, Watu Ondo waterfall remains charming. The trekking track is quite challenging, but it is no harm for the beginners to try the trail. It indeed gives you a new adventuring experience.

31. Tancak Tulis Waterfall

The people of Jember are multicultural—a blend of two major ethnicities: Javanese and Madurese. It is no surprise; some of the tourist attractions are named in two languages. In Madurese, Tancak means waterfall. Some of the locals do not get across the meaning of the word—they think it's just an ordinary name.

In truth, there are two kinds of waterfalls named Tancak in Jember. The first one is Tancak Tulis. According to the locals, the natural wonder is the tallest waterfall in the entire Jember. The trip reaching the gem takes some effort. You have to go through three plantations, face the broken road, and cross over the creek. Then, another challenging thing is a trail filled with the thick bush. Once getting there, you will be stunned by the panoramic view of the waterfall.

32. Tancak Gunung Pasang Waterfall

Tancak Gunung Pasang waterfall set on the foot of Gunung Pasang would be your following great destination. To reach this gem needs some effort – you have to be physically and mentally ready for the exciting journey.

33. Mandigu Waterfall

Mandigu, one of the cool venues for paragliding, is in fact, a range of mountains stretching on the east side. However, a waterfall is named so due to its adjacent location to the ridge.

Mandigu Waterfall has pretty calm stream downing the stair-like stone terraces. The white water is super clean and tailored with the amber rocks and green shade of the trees. 34. Japanese Cave

The Japanese Cave used to be a shelter for the indigenous people to protect their selves from the Japanese’s chase. 35. Patemon Bathing Place

Jember does have a wide number of swimming pools and bathing places mainly on the outer skin of the region – Patemon bathing place is just one of them. The newly restored public space has existed since 1954. 

You will find the spot so tranquil and refreshing. There are four main pools with various depths you can opt for. Once you dip in the water, the cool sensation will remain on you – the stream from the spring of Mount Argopuro is the reason why the pools are fresh.

36. Rembangan Bathing Place

Aside from the gorgeous view overlooked from the peak, Rembangan hill has a lot of things to offer: bathing place, lodges, and a recreational park. 37. Kimo Swimming Pool

38. Kebon Agung Bathing Place

Kebon Agung bathing place is the most likable pool among others. Some visitors take a personal swimming course in the afternoon. Do not get worried if you bring your children as they can have fun with the water at a swimming pool for kids. Besides, the 20 meters long and 50-meter-long pools are provided—they have been adjusted based on the visitors' height.

The fastest route to reach this site is taken from Gebang Market. From this busy spot, turn right and go ahead until you notice a sign telling Jalan Manggar. Once your way is about in the middle of crossroads, turn left for a few minutes. The place for bathing is on your left side.

39. Tiara Waterpark

Tiara Waterpark is ideal for those traveling with family. Its turquoise water is fitting for the fun slides and rides. Other facilities you can try including Bianglala, swinging boat, and ATV. If you are craving for Gudeg while traveling in Jember, you can drop by at Warung Gudeg Lumintu, a local restaurant selling the mouth-watering dish. The authentic taste of it is so tempting – do not get surprised seeing the location is crammed with hungry visitors unless you avoid the lunch and breakfast time.

Warung Lumintu is situated within a housing complex. To get there, stroll down the small path, just the opposite of Lippo Plaza then goes ahead for about 500 meters.

42. Nasi Pecel Walisongo

One of the most crowded eateries that highlight pecel rice is Nasi Pecel Walisongo restaurant, within walking distance from the town square, set in an alley, and next to the same name shop. Reaching from Surabaya is accessible. When you are in an area, a few minutes away from the town square, you will find this place on your left side.

43. Soto Ayam Dahlok

The popularity of Soto Ayam Dahlok (a restaurant where the chicken Soto is the highlight) cannot be indecisive. The legendary place has existed since 1958. Within five decades, its recipes inherited by the old generation cannot be questioned. A bowl of steamed rice is doused with the chicken broth and topped with shredded chicken, potato slices, boiled egg, a sprinkle of celery, and chopped tomato. It is indeed great to fill in your starving stomach from dawn to dusk.

To reach the site, you can go by car taking a route from Jalan Sultan Agung. There are some curves you need to pass through—be sure to drive slowly. When you are on the second curve, turn right and hit the Dahlok alley. The chicken Soto eatery is just behind it.

44. Ketan Jompo

Ketan Jompo only opened at night features a plate of steamed sticky rice. The bustling warung is where the visitors can do some activities such as chilling out and enjoying foods. Some additional dishes you cannot miss are the soybean powder, skewered intestine satay, fritters, and many others.

To get there, you can go on foot and walk through Jalan Sultan Agung. If you go by car, be sure to lock it.

45. Kolong Café

The last but not the least is the Kolong Café. Although it comes with relatively plain interior and menu, the cool spot for hanging out has never been noiseless.

What makes it special is its location under the bridge of Jalan Mastrip—it strangely has a concrete roof where the passers take their way. Opened at night, the café is decorated with the mild lighting so that the visitors could feel laid-back ambiance.

To get there, just take a 40-meter distance walk to the west. From the orange gate, go ahead until you find the spot.

To sum up, it is so clear that Jember offers a wide array of natural attractions. The poor infrastructure would be a serious matter for those taking a risk on adventuring for the first time. On the contrary, the nature enthusiasts who love to challenge their selves trekking, hiking, or traveling across the country, consider it as a trivial thing.

An important thing to notice is that there is no detail information about "how to go there." Some road signs showing where the attractions are can’t be found so that the travelers have no idea which way they should take unless asking the locals.

It’s true that several spots come with no admission fee. However, you need to bring some small changes, handy for the parking service.
