Information About Jayakarta Train
Jayakarta is a passenger train in the premium economy class that operates on the Surabaya Gubeng (SGU) - Pasar Senen (PSE) route and vice versa. The name Jayakarta comes from the old name of DKI Jakarta Province during the Sultanate of Banten era.
The Jayakarta train started operating on September 28, 2017. Initially, it was used as an additional train during the 2017 Eid al-Fitr holiday season under the name Gaya Baru Malam Selatan Premium.
Due to high demand, the train's operation continued under the name Jayakarta. It was officially inaugurated with this new name on the 72nd anniversary of PT. Kereta Api Indonesia.
Availability of Jayakarta Train Class
The Jayakarta train offers only one passenger class, which is premium economy. The seating arrangement in the train is mostly in a forward-facing direction, except for seats numbered 10-11, which face each other. It's worth noting that the train seats cannot be rotated.
Seats numbered 1-10 face the same direction as the train's movement, while seats numbered 11-20 face the opposite direction. The passenger seats are individual and separated by armrests.
These seats are designed for comfort during long journeys, with reclining seats or adjustable backrests. This sets them apart from regular economy seats, which have upright backrests.
When purchasing tickets for the Jayakarta train, you may encounter codes such as CA, CB, C, P, Q, or S, representing Economy sub-classes. However, facilities, services, and types of seats are the same among these sub-classes. They are simply used to indicate different fare options. Passengers can choose the cheapest option by making early reservations.
