Kamandaka is a passenger train that serves the Semarang Tawang - Cilacap route via Purwokerto with several class options. Since first operating on February 17, 2014, Kamandaka has only served the Semarang Tawang - Purwokerto route. 

Then on March 11, 2022, a new route will open from Semarang Tawang to Cilacap. The Kamandaka train operates on the Tegal - Prupuk railway line. Currently, this line is only used for boiler train services, which route from Maos to Tegal.

The name Kamandaka comes from Raden Kamandaka, a legendary figure from Banyumas. This train journey also experienced a period of inactivity because it stopped operating on December 1, 2018. This was due to the existence of the Joglosemar Kerto (Yogyakarta - Cilacap) train, which resumed operations on February 1, 2019.

Class Availability Kamandaka Train

Initially, Kamandaka only served economy class passengers with 106 seats per carriage. Starting February 23, 2017, Kamandaka will use the former Menoreh and Ambarawa Express train sets. Now prospective passengers can choose between executive and economy class by selecting three groups of available seats.

The executive class is arranged 2-2 with 50 seats that can recline and can be rotated according to the direction of the train. In this way, passengers can travel comfortably because they don't need to worry about feeling like they are going backward.

There are also 64 economy class seats arranged 2-2 facing each other and cannot be reclined. Other economy class carriages are also arranged 2-2, 40 of which face to the right and the other 40 to the left. Even though it seems less comfortable, prices for economy class are certainly more affordable so you can save.

The Kamandaka Railway has been using two types of train sets since March 11, 2022. There are carriages for the economy and executive class for the Semarang Tawang - Purwokerto route. Meanwhile, the Semarang Tawang - Cilacap route has New Image 2016 Economy and Premium Economy carriages.

Kamandaka can accommodate 742 people in 7 carriages plus an additional carriage for restoration and power generation. Passengers will have access to luggage facilities to safely store their items during the trip.

In addition to the main facilities, specific class types may also receive certain amenities. For example, passengers on the New Image Executive and Economy class train services will have access to entertainment facilities.

For those who wish to travel from Semarang Tawang to Purwokerto via Tegal, you can take KA Kamandaka No. 157-157. The departure time from Semarang Tawang Station is 11:30 AM, and you will arrive in Purwokerto at 3:46 PM.

Alternatively, you can also take KA Kamandaka No. 165-164 for the same route. The departure time from Semarang Tawang Station is 6:30 PM, and it arrives at Purwokerto Station at 10:40 PM (Purwokerto-Semarang Tawang via Tegal). The train that operates is KA Kamandaka No. 155-158 with a departure time of 5:00 AM and an arrival time of 9:22 AM.

For the Semarang Tawang - Cilacap route via Kroya, you can use KA Kamandaka No. 177-176-173. The departure time from Semarang is 6:25 AM, and it arrives in Cilacap at 12:50 PM. On the other hand, from Cilacap to Semarang Tawang via Tegal, you can use KA Kamandaka No. 174-175-178 with a departure time of 1:55 PM and an arrival time of 8:12 PM.
