The legendary English comedian Charlie Chaplin once visited Stasiun Garut. The presence of Charlie Chaplin in Indonesia was documented in the newspaper Het Niews van den Dag voor Nederland Indie, published on March 29, 1932. 

A telegraph from Singapore has provided information that Chaplin is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on Sunday evening. Chaplin is planning to depart from Batavia on Monday after passing via Tanjung Priok Port, in order to continue his journey towards Garut.
