Rangkasbitung Station, also more popularly known as Rangkas Station is C class train station located in East Muara Ciujung, Rangkasbitung subdistrict, Lebak, Banten Province. This station is located at +22 meters altitude and includes the Jakarta Operational Area (DAOP) and becomes a main station in Banten Province. All of the trains that pass through Tanah Abang-Merak will stop at this station.

From the center of Jakarta, passengers can use the commuter line (KRL) with the Tanah Abang line. Then, the travel will be continued using a train with the Rangkasbitung line. The first train for the Tanah Abang-Rangkasbitung station route departs at 05.00 AM. 

On the other hand, for passengers who arrive at Rangkasbitung station and want to continue their travel inside the city, they can use some transport options. For example, they can use public buses and public transportation cars. Then, passengers who want to continue to the next town can use bus and train services (either with Jakarta line train or local train).

2. Local Train

Besides the Tanah Abang line commuter line, Rangkasbitung Station also offers local trains to Merak Station. The distance between those stations is 67,4 km with 1 hour and 45 minutes trip length and 3 thousand IDR for the price of each ticket. There are seven trips with particular schedules as follows;

If the trip is done by commuter line with Rangkasbitung-Tanah Abang Station route, Citeras Station will be the last station before Rangkasbitung Station. On the other hand, if the trip is done by local train with Rangkasbitung-Merak station route, Jambu Baru Station will be the first station towards Merak after Rangkasbitung Station. 

Unique Facts About Rangkasbitung Station

Rangkasbitung Station is one of the oldest stations in Indonesia. Not only does it act as a place for trains to stop, but this station also has some interesting facts, such as:

• It became an economic center for Banten local citizens and the only big station in Banten Province.
• The station’s construction itself is a heritage from Staatsspoorwegen and is still used today, therefore making it a cultural heritage. The canopy part of the station was created with the Polonceau number. 
• This station offers so many train facilities, such as a locomotive depo and its turntable, a water tower for a steam locomotive, and storage as a place to store some stuff.
