Malang is one of the most popular destinations for a vacation because of its many tourist destinations, ranging from natural, cultural, family-friendly, to culinary tours that are so special. It is not uncommon for this city to always be crowded with tourists, both local and international.
As a tourist area, Malang is also supported by many modes of transportation, one of which is the train. There are seven stations in Malang, some of which are large stations that are active in serving passengers. These stations are Malang Kota Baru Station (ML), Malang Kota Lama Station (MLK), Lawang Station (LW), Kepanjen Station (KPN), Blimbing Station (BMG), Singosari Station (SGS), and Sumberpucung Station (SBP).
Also known as Klojen Station, Malang Kota Baru (ML) Station is located at Jl. Panglima Sudirman (east entrance) and Jl. Trunojoyo (west entrance). This station is a large class A train station with an altitude of +444 meters above sea level and is included in the operational area (DAOP) VIII Surabaya as well as commuter trains (KAI Commuter).
Malang Station serves train travel relations from economy class, mixed, and executive class. From the northern part of Java, Jayabaya, Majapahit, Matarmaja, and Brawijaya trains are available. Then, from the southern part of Java, Malabar train and Tawang Alun train are available to serve the eastern part of Java.
Meanwhile, from the central part of Java, there are Kertanegara, Malioboro Ekspres, and Gajayana trains. Finally, the agglomeration train relations served at Malang Station are Arjuno Ekspres train, and Penataran and Tumapel commuter trains.
As a large and active train station, Malang Station is also equipped with various supporting facilities. Some of them include parking areas, parking for bicycles, special paths for the disabled, independent ticket printing machines, waiting rooms, VIP waiting areas, direct ticket purchase services, customer service, information centers, prayer rooms, toilets, up and down lanes, stairs, health posts, and children's play areas.
Not only that, Malang Station also has several restaurant outlets, shopping areas or shops, special rooms for breastfeeding, special places to charge batteries, certain areas specifically for smoking, luggage storage services, and escalators to facilitate the mobility of prospective passengers.
Previously, Ngawi Station (NGW) was more popularly known as Paron Station (PA). The station is located on Jl. Raya Paron, Gelung, Ngawi, East Java, is a class II railway station at an altitude of +56 meters above sea level and is included in the operational area (DAOP) VII Madiun. The name change from Paron Station to Ngawi Station was officially carried out on December 1, 2019 with the aim of introducing the Ngawi area to tourists.
In accordance with the 2023 Railway Travel Chart (Gapeka), there are several passenger train travel relations that stop at Ngawi Station, including Brantas train, Majapahit train, and Matarmaja train (north cross Java), Logawa train, Bangunkarta train, Singasari train, and Jayakarta train (middle cross Java), Malabar train, Wijayakusuma train, Pasundan train, Kahuripan train, and Sri Tanjung train (south cross Java).
In addition, the train station, which is located 8 kilometers west of Ngawi City, also has quite complete supporting facilities. Some of them include a parking area, a disabled lane, an independent ticket printing machine, a waiting room, direct booking at the counter, an information area, a prayer room, toilets, a health post, a special room for breastfeeding, a battery charging area, and a special area for smoking.
As a small region in East Java Province, Ngawi has quite a variety of tourist destinations, some of which are natural attractions. In addition, the culinary offerings also have unique flavors, so it's no wonder that this region is starting to attract tourists, both from within and outside the country, including Malang.
The journey from Malang to Ngawi is about 250.2 kilometers, which can be reached in approximately 3 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours 52 minutes by train, depending on the type of train used. Travel connections from Malang to Ngawi are served at Kepanjen Station (KPN), with a choice of Malabar train, Matarmaja train, and Majapahit train.
The first train to depart is Malabar train which departs from Kepanjen Station at 06.12 WIB, while the last train to depart is Majapahit train which departs from Kepanjen Station at 19.16 WIB. Economy and executive classes are available to choose from, with ticket prices ranging from Rp130 thousand to Rp250 thousand for economy class, and from Rp355 thousand to Rp460 thousand for executive class.
