Ngawi has five stations that are still active today, namely Geneng (GG), Kedunggalar (KG), Walikukun (WK), Paron (PA), and Ngawi (NGW). Among these stations, only Walikukun and Ngawi stations serve departures to Malang.
As the name suggests, Walikukun station is a class II railway station located in Walikukun village, Widodaren sub-district. This station is the westernmost station in Ngawi as well as the southernmost station in East Java.
Meanwhile, Ngawi Station is located in Gelung Village, Paron Subdistrict where the station was previously known as Paron Station. Ngawi Station is the largest station in the Ngawi Regency area, so it is not surprising that the traffic at this station is quite busy.
Although quite far from the city center, public transportation can still reach both stations. If you prefer, you can use taxis or motorcycle taxis that can be booked online or offline.
You can also use a private vehicle because both stations have adequate parking lots. In addition, there are several other supporting facilities such as prayer rooms, toilets, comfortable waiting areas, ticket counters, and many more.
Uniquely at Ngawi Station there is even a classic corner containing various traditional objects such as pawon, steamer, wooden sutil, batik cloth, and others. This area can be a fun educational vehicle for children while waiting for the train to arrive.
There are five stations in Malang, namely Blimbing (BMG), Kepanjen (KPN), Lawang (LW), Malang (ML), Malang Kota Lama (MLK), Sumberpucung (SBP). All of these stations receive train arrivals from Ngawi except Blimbing Station.
Malang Station is the main station in Malang Raya, located in Kidul Dalem, Klojen, near Alun-alun Bundar. Another station option is Lawang Station, which is the largest and northernmost station in Malang Regency. As the name suggests, this station is located in Lawang, Malang.
Kepanjen Station can be an option if you want to go to the Kepanjen area. This station is famous for being close to Kali Metro, which is one of the rivers in Malang Regency. Then in the westernmost position of Malang Regency, there is Sumberpucung Station, which not only serves passengers but also feeds and crosses trains.
Each station has complete facilities ranging from ticket counters, vending machines, boarding gates, waiting rooms, toilets, prayer rooms, and more. Some stations such as Lawang Station even have a food court that is suitable for dining while waiting for the train to arrive.
Reaching these stations is also quite easy because you can use public transportation including angkot or becak. There are 17 angkot routes in Malang that are served using APV Carry cars. In addition, you can also take a motorcycle taxi, taxi, or private vehicle.
