I was enjoying the seaview while drinking coffee. Most of the time I spend in the balcony with the view. Will come again. Perfect hotel for couple and family. But only thing make me a bit upset is the cleanliness of bathroom. Can improve it next time.

The hotel facility is old. Our room is full of ants. We came back from exploring the city to find our pillows crawling with a nest of ants. Ha ha ha. The shower was cold, which made me take my bath much faster than usual, like in 1 minute and had to rush out. The balcony door could not be locked properly. But the location was excellent. It is right beside the beach, with white sand and clean beach. We had a partial view of the beautiful ocean from our balcony. There is a local food court in front of the hotel with delicious food.

This is a very old hotel (Ex Sandy Bay Paradise). It was once a very fantastic hotel. But now, is very run down and no more 4 star environment. You can rate it as 3 star, the max. Room 2004 was OK. At least air cond and other amenities were working (albeit not well maintained). Car Park was really inconvenient and limited. Food, was mediocre and breakfast is. (better eat out) really not worth your money. Reception, was just OK, there are better. Just treat this as a 2.5 to 3 star and it should be OK. Definitely not 4 star.

The linens were stained with few drops of blood and I call to housekeeping at 3pm request for a change. However no action taken. Second call make at 8pm till 10pm, I need to walk in the reception counter again to ask for a change. It 's an old building that refurnished to this new hotel. Honestly I don't think the room worth for the price of rm342 per night. Seriously disappointed and I won't visit again. Please improve on your service. The hotel downstairs is direct access to beach but the beach is so poorly maintained.

Staff is friendly, and the location is very near to seaside with awesome view. Love the place. The only disadvantage is the room has thin walls which makes us hear clearly what the neighboring room tenants were talking.

About

Literally meaning ‘Flower Cape’, Tanjung Bungah is a seaside suburb located between Gurney and Batu Feringghi, about a half-hour’s drive from Georgetown. Originally a sleepy fishing village, it has risen in popularity over the years to become one of Penang’s most popular destinations. Watersports activities are most popular in Tanjung Bungah, with Penang Water Sports Centre based here. Built amongst its spectacular natural landscape are world-class hotels and resorts, offering guests the utmost comfort and luxury in an idyllic location. Tanjung Bungah is pretty quiet when compared to its more touristy neighbours, Batu Feringghi, Gurney and Georgetown. It may not have even half as many things to see as Georgetown, but the two main attractions it has – the Floating Mosque and the Toy Museum – are unique and interesting in their own right. You can’t miss them as you would be passing them by en route to Batu Feringghi.

How to Get There

By Flight

If you are traveling by air, nearest airport is the Penang International Airport (IATA: PEN, ICAO: WMKP), which is an international airport, located in Bayan Lepas, Penang. Tanjung Bungah is located about 45 minutes from the airport

By Car

It is very easy to get to Tanjung Bungah by car. The North-South PLUS Highway is a modern toll road that runs from Perlis to Johor Bharu. Use the exits to Penang Bridge or Penang Second Bridge to access Penang Island where Tanjung Bungah is located.

Tourist Attractions

Penang Floating Mosque

Masjid Terapung or the Floating Mosque was built in 2004 in a bid to replace an older mosque which was damaged in the year’s major tsunami disaster. Situated along Tanjung Bungah’s stretch of beach, the mosque is an architectural wonder with its Moorish design, seven-storey-high towering minarets and 360-degree panoramic view of the sea. It’s the first mosque in the country to be built on the sea, with pillars and stilts supporting its majestic structure. Covering an area of 1,295sqm, it can accommodate up to 1500 people during prayer times. Opening Hours: N/A, but permission to enter must be obtained from the mosque officials. No shoes are allowed inside the mosque, and all visitors must be decently dressed. Closed during Friday prayers (from 12:00 – 14:30).

Penang Toy Museum

Penang Toy Museum bills itself as the world’s largest toy museum. It is home to over 100,000 dolls, trains and other collectibles and has earned a spot in the Malaysian Book of Records as the country’s first toy museum, with the largest toy and figurine collection. Walking through the front doors is like stepping back into childhood and you are sure to see some old friends in the collection, from My Little Ponies and Care Bears to Doraemon and Gundam collectibles. A kitschy yet fun place to visit, it is a worthwhile and entertaining place to visit for both adults and kids. The 6996 square -feet Penang Toy Museum was started by Loh Lean Cheng, who was inspired after visiting the London Toy and Model Museum. He began his collection with a Popeye doll, bought in 1973, and from then on the compilation grew. The most expensive toy at the complex is a RM 9000 Gundam robot from Japan: the 1.8m-tall robot is a rare, limited edition toy Cheng acquired on a trip. The museum receives more than 100 visitors a day.
