The Floating mosque, one of the most popular tourist attraction in Tanjung Bungah is Malaysia’s first floating mosque, so its uniqueness is guaranteed. With the combination of local and Middle Eastern elements within its architecture, this mosque can accomodate 1500 worshippers at one time. During the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the floating mosque was one of the most severely hit building and it was then being rebulit in 2005. This mosque dwells at the heart of this serene Tanjung Bungah, a suburb that is located about 11km northwest of George Town, Penang, Malaysia and known for its mesmerizing beach, with several fantastic hotels and resorts lining within the area. How to Get There

By Plane

If the flight is straight to Penang, the drop-off would be at Penang International Airport. It would take approximately 45 minutes if the flight if from KLIA or KLIA 2.

By Bus

To get to the floating mosque, one must first get be in Penang and one convenient way to get to Penang is by bus. From KL, it would usually take about 5 hours depending on the traffic and from up north, Sungai Petani, Kedah, it would usually take about 45 minutes to an hour. Once landed in the main bus terminal in Komtar, hop on the efficient Rapid Penang bus that goes directly to Tanjung Bungah.
