Port Dickson is a coastal town, a district and an upcoming parliamentary constituency in Negeri Sembilan. Port Dickson also known as PD is a perfect getaway for the locals during the weekend. Port Dickson is located only 38 km from Seremban and 98 km from Kuala Lumpur. It takes just an hour drive from Kuala Lumpur to Port Dickson along the North–South Expressway and 32 km from Seremban. Port Dickson has a long coastal line facing the Strait of Malacca. Along this coastal line there is one of the popular beach that is Teluk Kemang Beach.

This small town used to produce charcoal, but it was later developed as a small port by the British during the Strait Settlement period. Port Dickson evolved into a busy trading center. Railways were constructed to facilitate the growth and development of Port Dickson. Although Port Dickson experienced rapid development, the beautiful beaches are fairly well preserved. Now, Port Dickson has become not only a beautiful tourist destination, but a large municipality with about 89 000 residents.

By Flight

Port Dickson is accessible from Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak and other parts of the peninsular Malaysia. The nearest airport to Port Dickson is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The airport is easily accessible via the PLUS highway. From airport you can take taxi to Port Dickson. The distance from airport to Port Dickson is about 43.6 km and 56 minutes’ drive from the airport.

By Car

If you travel from Kuala Lumpur you may drive through the North-South Expressway (PLUS) exit at the Port Dickson interchange (Exit 219) between Seremban and Senawang interchanges. The journey takes 1 hour 21 minutes from Kuala Lumpur to Port Dickson. Port Dickson is also connected via Lekas Highway.

By bus

You may take bus to reach Port Dickson. The nearest express bus terminal is located at Terminal One, Seremban. You can take bus from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) to Seremban by using express bus services. From Seremban station you may take local bus or taxi to Port Dickson. There is also daily express bus service from Singapore to Port Dickson.

By Train

The nearest Port Dickson train station is in Seremban which can be easily reached from Kuala Lumpur. You have to catch a bus or taxi from Seremban to reach Port Dickson.

Tourist Attractions

Cape Rachado Lighthouse

One of the interesting places that you shouldn’t miss during your stay in Port Dickson is the Cape Rachado Lighthouse which is located at Tanjung Tuan. The Portuguese built the Cape Rachado lighthouse in the 16th century and as a guided ship to the Port of Malacca. Today, the lighthouse stands with modern modifications for the visitors to do bird-watching and enjoy the amazing view of the sea from the top.

Army Museum

Army Museum is located near to Malaysian Army Camp Port Dickson Based. This Museum is the latest attraction in Port Dickson. Some vehicle and aircraft used by Royal Malaysian Army before is display here and there is also a Communist Tunnel in this museum.

Fort Lukut

The fort was built in 1847 to control the lucrative tin trade in the area. Here you can find muzzle loading guns used to defend the fort can be seen within the grounds of the District Officer’s residence and outside the Police Station in town. In the area of the fort are also the remains of the foundation of an old palace and a royal burial ground.

Teluk Kemang Beach

Teluk Kemang is the largest and most popular beach of Port Dickson, located between 7th and 8th mile from PD town. During weekends and public holidays, the beach gets unbelievably crowded with visitors, while the sea becomes frenzied from motorized water sports. Visitor facilities and amenities are includes car parks, walkways, gazebos, bathrooms and zones for souvenir shops, hawker stalls and restaurants.
