Gambir Station

Located on Medan Merdeka Timur Street No. 1, Gambir, Central Jakarta City, Special Capital Region of Jakarta 10110, Gambir Station is the major station of the province and strategically located in the middle of the city, precisely, to the east of the National Monument.

Stopping at the National Monument, you can find a special access that connects to Gambir Station. From there, you can use Transjakarta Bus Corridor 2, and get off at the Gambir Bus Stop 1 or 2.

Also known as Jakbir, this station has been around since the Dutch colonial era, to be precise in 1884. Massive renovations took place in the 1990s, changing it into an overpass station. Currently, Gambir Station keeps improving. The station is within a walking distance from the main attractions at Malioboro Street.

Yogyakarta Station owns a particularly unique lane. On the east side of this station, there is a railway crossing, cutting across Malioboro Street. With a sliding gate and a guard house, the road is dedicated specifically for bicycles, pedicabs, horse-carriages, and pedestrians. At the end of the crossing stands a Steam Locomotive Monument, which is famous for taking pictures.

Looking to the north from Keraton, you will discover that Malioboro, Margo Utama, Yogya Monument, and A.M Sangadji Street forms one straight line to the top of Mount Merapi.

Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat Palace

Mostly known as Keraton Yogyakarta, this destination is an official palace for Yogyakarta Sultanate. The palace is the house for Sultan, the monarch of Yogyakarta, and also a museum for historical relics. Until this very day, Keraton has been the best example of Javanese Palace architecture in Indonesia. Since the location is not far from Malioboro Street, you can reach the palace by pedicabs.
