I had a wonderful stay at Princesa Garden Island Resort on Christmas Eve! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a seamless check-in and a comfortable experience throughout. My room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. One of the highlights was the thoughtful gesture of giving a gift to our toddler, which made the holiday season even more special. The breakfast buffet and festive decorations added a cozy touch to our stay. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again in the future!

We had a pleasant stay at Panja Resort. The staff are friendly. The place is near Baker's Hill (one of the tourist spots included in the city tour), around 10-15 minutes' walk from the hotel. Mitra's Ranch is also near it, but we were not able to go there due to our time limit. They also have a free ride from and to Robinsons mall. You may want to check their schedules. Also, they have free airport transfer from the hotel (only).

The accommodation is worth the price. The room is clean and the front desk catered to our needs as expected. Staffs are approachable too. Breakfast is good though it's a small portion. It's okay though, we had a breakfast buffet on our last day there. There's also a free shuttle service going to the airport. All in all, it was a good experience.

More about hotels in Manggahan

Discover Manggahan: A Gateway to Palawan's Charms

Manggahan, a vibrant locale within the Philippines, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and burgeoning urban development that appeals to a diverse range of international travellers. Unlike the bustling metropolises of Manila or the well-trodden paths of Boracay, Manggahan presents a more authentic slice of Palawan life, serving as an accessible entry point to the province's famed islands and pristine coastlines. For those seeking an experience that balances adventure with relaxation, Manggahan provides a compelling proposition, offering a less commercialized yet equally captivating introduction to the archipelago's wonders. Its strategic position allows for easy exploration of both the city's immediate attractions and the wider natural splendours of the region.

The character of Manggahan itself is a mosaic, with distinct neighbourhoods offering varied experiences. From the commercial buzz around areas like Manggahan and Bancao-Bancao, which host key commercial hubs and shopping centres, to the more tranquil residential pockets in San Pedro and Tiniguiban, there's a palpable sense of diversity. Travellers can choose to stay near the conveniences of Puerto Princesa city proper, explore the developing areas of Aborlan, or find themselves closer to coastal attractions in Concepcion and San Manuel. This geographical spread means that where you choose to base yourself in Manggahan can significantly shape your entire Palawan adventure, from the pace of your days to the ease of accessing specific activities.

With an average starting price of ₱ 1,266.28 per night and an overall review score of 7.7 from 120 reviews, Manggahan positions itself as a remarkably value-conscious destination for international visitors. Compared to many popular tourist spots in Southeast Asia, the cost of accommodation, dining, and activities here offers significant purchasing power for travellers from the United States, Europe, and India. This affordability does not come at the expense of quality, as evidenced by the consistently positive reviews, suggesting that Manggahan provides an excellent balance of budget-friendly travel and enjoyable experiences, making it an attractive option for those mindful of their travel expenses.

The accommodation landscape in Manggahan reflects this accessibility and variety. For instance, the budget-friendly Inn Ka Kay Mame near SM City Puerto Princesa offers a practical base with essential amenities, while Arnaldo's Place provides a glimpse into more specialized lodging options. These examples, among many others, illustrate the spectrum of choices available, catering to different preferences and budgets. Whether you're a solo backpacker looking for a clean and affordable stay or a couple seeking a comfortable retreat, Manggahan has options that can be easily explored and booked through platforms like Traveloka, ensuring a smooth start to your journey.

Manggahan is a destination that can cater to a wide array of international travellers. For American tourists, it offers a chance to experience a less-developed but equally beautiful part of Southeast Asia, with opportunities for adventure and cultural immersion. European travellers might find its blend of natural landscapes and local culture particularly appealing, offering a respite from more crowded European destinations. Indian travellers will appreciate the relative affordability, the availability of diverse culinary options, and the ease of connectivity from major hubs. While direct travel from Africa might be less common, Manggahan serves as an excellent gateway for those exploring the broader Asian region, offering a unique island experience.

Best Areas to Stay in Manggahan

Manggahan, while a specific locale, encompasses a range of neighbourhoods, each with its own distinct character and appeal for international visitors. Choosing the right area to stay can significantly enhance your trip, influencing everything from your daily commute to the types of attractions and dining experiences readily available. The culinary scene in Manggahan is best explored by venturing into its local markets and neighbourhood eateries, particularly those found in areas like Manggahan and San Pedro. These districts often host vibrant public markets where fresh produce and local delicacies are sold daily. For those seeking Halal options, it is advisable to inquire directly at restaurants or look for establishments that explicitly state their adherence to Halal practices, as this is not as widely advertised as in some other regions. Many local eateries will be accommodating if informed of dietary needs.

Dining in Manggahan offers remarkable value for international travellers. Street food and local carinderias (small eateries) can provide a filling meal for as little as ₱100-₱200 (approximately $2-4 USD). Mid-range restaurants offering a variety of Filipino dishes typically charge between ₱300-₱600 (approximately $6-12 USD) per person for a substantial meal. Even more upscale dining experiences remain considerably more affordable than in many Western countries, with a three-course meal for two at a good restaurant rarely exceeding ₱2,000 (approximately $40 USD), offering excellent purchasing power.

When dining in Manggahan, embracing local customs enhances the experience. Meals are typically enjoyed at a relaxed pace, and it's customary to wait for elders or hosts to begin eating. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for excellent service, with a small amount (5-10%) being customary. Many local eateries operate on a "come as you are" basis, so dressing comfortably is fine, though slightly more presentable attire is suitable for finer dining establishments. Familiarizing yourself with basic Filipino phrases for ordering can also be a pleasant way to interact with staff.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Manggahan

When visiting homes or more traditional establishments, it's polite to remove your shoes before entering. While Manggahan is relatively safe, being mindful of your surroundings and personal belongings is always advisable, especially in crowded public areas.

When visiting specific landmarks or establishments like Aldo's Pension House or Max & Bunny - SM PPS, it's good practice to observe any posted rules regarding photography and dress codes. While casual attire is generally acceptable in most tourist areas, more conservative dress might be appropriate when visiting religious sites. Queuing culture is present, and patience is appreciated. Tricycles are common for short distances within the city, while taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab (if available and operational in the area) offer more structured options. Always agree on a fare beforehand if using a tricycle or taxi without a meter. Keeping valuables secure and avoiding displaying large amounts of cash can help prevent petty theft. Having offline maps and essential contact numbers readily accessible on your phone is also a wise precaution.

In case of emergencies, the local police can be reached via emergency hotlines. For Filipino travellers, it's also useful to know the contact details for the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate if travelling internationally, though for domestic travel within the Philippines, this is less critical. For any health concerns, ensure you have adequate travel insurance. Manggahan is generally a safe destination, but standard travel precautions will ensure a smooth and worry-free trip, allowing you to focus on enjoying the beauty of Palawan.
