I had a wonderful stay at Princesa Garden Island Resort on Christmas Eve! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring a seamless check-in and a comfortable experience throughout. My room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. One of the highlights was the thoughtful gesture of giving a gift to our toddler, which made the holiday season even more special. The breakfast buffet and festive decorations added a cozy touch to our stay. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again in the future!

We had a pleasant stay at Panja Resort. The staff are friendly. The place is near Baker's Hill (one of the tourist spots included in the city tour), around 10-15 minutes' walk from the hotel. Mitra's Ranch is also near it, but we were not able to go there due to our time limit. They also have a free ride from and to Robinsons mall. You may want to check their schedules. Also, they have free airport transfer from the hotel (only).

The accommodation is worth the price. The room is clean and the front desk catered to our needs as expected. Staffs are approachable too. Breakfast is good though it's a small portion. It's okay though, we had a breakfast buffet on our last day there. There's also a free shuttle service going to the airport. All in all, it was a good experience.

Dining in Bagong Silang offers remarkable value for international visitors. Street food and local carinderias (small eateries) can provide a filling meal for as little as ₱ 100-200 (approximately $2-4 USD). Mid-range restaurants typically charge between ₱ 400-800 (approximately $8-16 USD) per person for a full meal, while more upscale dining experiences might range from ₱ 1,000-2,000 (approximately $20-40 USD) or more. Local Etiquette & Safety in Bagong Silang

Understanding local customs and etiquette is crucial for any international traveller visiting Bagong Silang, ensuring a respectful and harmonious experience. Filipinos are generally known for their warmth and hospitality, but being aware of certain social norms can prevent misunderstandings. When visiting popular landmarks or engaging in local activities, maintaining a respectful demeanour is important. Dress modestly when visiting religious sites, covering shoulders and knees. While photography is often permitted, it’s always polite to ask for permission before taking close-up photos of individuals, especially in more traditional or rural settings. Queuing is generally observed, and patience is appreciated, particularly in busy areas or when dealing with local administrative processes.

Safety in Bagong Silang is generally good, especially in tourist-frequented areas, but standard precautions should always be taken. Keep valuables secure and be mindful of your surroundings, particularly in crowded markets or on public transport. For transportation, utilizing reputable ride-hailing apps like Grab or local taxis is recommended. It’s wise to have offline maps downloaded and to keep emergency contact numbers readily accessible on your phone.

In case of emergencies, dial 911 for immediate assistance in the Philippines. For specific concerns, local police hotlines can be found through your accommodation or local directories. While Bagong Silang is part of the Philippines, it's important for travellers to be aware of any travel advisories issued by their home country's foreign affairs department. For Filipino travellers, ensuring you have adequate travel insurance and knowing the contact details for the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) can provide an extra layer of security.

Travel Guide to Bagong Silang

Reaching Bagong Silang is most conveniently done via air travel, with flights from major Philippine hubs like Manila (NAIA/MNL), Cebu (CEB), and Clark (CRK) serving the region. While direct flights are available, connecting routes might offer more flexibility or better pricing depending on your departure city. The primary airport serving Bagong Silang is Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS), with flight durations typically ranging from 1 to 1.5 hours from Manila. Upon arrival, airport transfers to your accommodation can be arranged via taxi, ride-sharing services, or pre-booked shuttles, usually taking 15-30 minutes to reach the city centre. For those planning their journey, it's advisable to book flight tickets in advance, especially during peak seasons, to secure the best fares.

Navigating Bagong Silang and its surrounding areas is relatively straightforward, with a variety of transport options available to suit different budgets and preferences. Local transportation includes jeepneys, which are a cost-effective way to travel between districts, and tricycles, ideal for shorter distances within neighbourhoods. Taxis and ride-hailing services like Grab are also readily available, offering more comfort and convenience, particularly for travellers with luggage or those heading to more remote locations. For exploring the wider region, renting a motorbike or car can provide greater flexibility, though it’s essential to be comfortable with local driving conditions.

The best time to visit Bagong Silang generally falls within the dry season, from November to May, when the weather is typically sunny and less humid, making it ideal for outdoor activities and beach excursions. This period, however, also coincides with peak tourist season, meaning higher hotel prices and larger crowds. For travellers seeking a more tranquil experience and potentially lower costs, the shoulder months of November and May, or the early part of the wet season (June to October), can offer a good balance, though visitors should be prepared for occasional rainfall.

Before departing for Bagong Silang, a few practical preparations will ensure a smoother trip. The local currency is the Philippine Peso (PHP), and while major credit cards are accepted in larger establishments, carrying cash is essential for smaller vendors, local markets, and public transport. You can exchange currency at the airport or in local banks. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival at the airport is highly recommended for affordable data and calls. Essential apps to download include maps (Google Maps), a translation app, and ride-hailing services.

Visa Information for Entering the Philippines

For Philippine passport holders planning to visit Bagong Silang, the good news is that no visa is required to enter the Philippines itself, as it is your home country. You will simply need a valid Philippine passport for identification. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from your intended date of entry, a standard requirement for all international travel, even within your own country for certain administrative purposes or if you are travelling from a remote island to a major hub.

While no visa is necessary for Filipino citizens, it is always prudent to carry proof of onward travel or accommodation bookings, as immigration officials may request this information. This is a standard procedure to confirm that visitors intend to stay for the permitted duration and do not plan to overstay. Familiarizing yourself with the specific entry requirements for any domestic travel that might be considered "international" within the Philippines, such as travel to certain territories, is also advisable, though for Bagong Silang, standard domestic travel protocols apply.

As policies and regulations can change, it is always recommended for travellers to verify the latest entry requirements with the Philippines' Bureau of Immigration or the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) before their trip. This ensures you have the most up-to-date information regarding any documentation or procedures that may be in place. Confirming these details before booking your book flight and accommodation will help guarantee a seamless travel experience to Bagong Silang.
