The room was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities as stated. One thing I really liked was their smart TV, instead of just being able to surf the usual TV channels, I was able to connect my phone to the TV and play my own YouTube videos and shows from my phone, which I thought was quite cool. The hotel didn't feel congested or overcrowded at all despite the concierge informing us that they were almost fully booked that day, which was nice. They had a good breakfast spread-quite a variety of choices from oriental to american breakfast. Location was amazing as well! Right in the city centre-just right across the road from the MRT (City Hall) and near food places (Chijmes) and a mall (Raffles City), it was a breeze getting food and going to shop. Overall a 5/5 stay and would love to come back again!

Had a great stay at Orchard Hotel. We're upgraded to premier room that comes worh bath tub amd king size bed that can fit all three of us. The breakfast buffet is surprisingly varied and when we came at about 8am there were not many guests and the spread is plenty. If you're driving they will give complimentary parking as well. 👍🏼

All staff was very helpful, our room upgraded to first class suite room 3017 for free. The room was big and clean, there are coffee maker, hairdryer, and iron. City view also amazing from lv 30 and very instagramable. Close to Thai Embassy Bus Stop, Scott Rd Bus Stop and walk about 7 min to Orchad MRT station. I would like to say ‘super recommended’! Will stay here in the next trip! Thankyou YOTEL for our amazing experience!

Hi … Booked to celebrate a family member's birthday. Checked in on 3 Dec. Smooth check-in, well done for the front office team … given room 1501. Spacious for a family of 4. Surprised when the hotel team delivered a nicely decorated fruit platter as a birthday gesture. Impressed with their service. They may notice it during check-in as occupants' particulars need to be documented due to the pandemic. The housekeeping team is very friendly. On the 2nd day, the Swimming pool was very clean. We book for an hour as the pool area is limited to 12 pax per hour. Checked out on 5 Dec. Superfast, just need to drop a card in the checkout dropbox, and off we go … 👍 Thank you York Hotel, a weekend well spent! Served by the awesome team during our stay 🙏🏻.

The room is spacious, tidy and clean. Everything in the room is in good working order except the doorbell. The room maintenance lady is courteous, friendly and very efficient. I am amazed by her efficiency in changing bedsheets and tidying up the room and bathroom, all alone in less than 10 mins. We had breakfast included in room rates and it is definitely worthwhile as breakfast is sumptuous and portions are big at Trishaw Coffee House. There's a choice between Western & Asian menus and they served different items even if you choose the same menu every day. The service is wonderful! 3 lifts but only 2 were working. (Maybe the middle lift was closed to allow at least 1m social distancing for the other 2 working lifts. Haha. Just kidding). We didn't try out the swimming pool. The gym is small with equipment for cardio exercises. Only 2 people can be there at any one time with an access key from reception. Happy Joy Restaurant serves big portions. The promotions they offered are worth it and the food is delicious! We made full use of the free open-air parking. Lots of available parking lots. Velocity and United Square malls are within 5 min walk away. Novena MRT is right below Velocity, location is very good for shopping and eating. However, a few downsides: Checking in is a huge pain. We waited for 45 mins just to register for check-in even though we had paid in full online with printed out receipts to show. Seems like their computer system is slow. Each group that checked-in takes about 10 to 15 mins each. We were lucky that we were early and had 3 groups in front of us. On other days, we see the line snaked across the front lobby. 3 pm - 5 pm is peak queuing time! Apart from the doorbell not working, I found holes in a bedsheet. Quite a few holes. The bedsheet is totally white so if you just roll into bed to sleep, you probably won't notice. Not a big deal. Although the front desk said all rooms are non-smoking rooms but there was a very strong cigarette odour the moment I walked from the lift lobby to my room door. It lingered there. Didn't go away. I have to hold my breath when I exited my room and dashed to the lift lobby and did likewise when I went back to my room. The room is OK, no cigarette odour. I don't see anyone loitering at the corridor smoking. Not sure where the cigarette odour came from. Some bathroom wall tile grout is black. My boy complained that it's black mould on the first day and didn't want to take his bath. Took him some time to get used to it. The washbasin is way too low. I'm 1.74m and I have to kneel to use it so that my clothes don't get wet from the water splash. The TV screen has lines across the screen and the colour display is not good. However, there's Netflix and YouTube to watch on TV so that's good enough for me. Free wifi is not very stable. Have to wait out for the movie to load from time to time. Checking out is a breeze. 5 seconds. Just return access cards and we went off. Overall, it was a satisfying stay. Good value for money, good breakfast, good service.

The room was neat and basic with no frills, but roomy and functional. Certain furnishing and fixtures were rather aged and not in tip-top condition (visible defects such as cracks in the bath tub), but nothing major and not a cause for complaint. However, the soundproofing of the room wasn't good-could rather easily hear the noises from the neighboring room. A major plus of this hotel is that it offers complimentary parking in its small private car park. The location is also almost unparalleled from a convenience/sightseeing/shopping perspective. An MRT station is at its doorstep and Dhoby Ghaut and Bugis are just a short distance away.

Worth every peny! Room is clean, blanket, bed cover, and bath towel are clean. Bathup and hot water are great! Location is not in the middle of the redlight area, so its okay for staying with children. You can store luggage in the morning then back for check in in the afternoon. Close to the coin laundry, convenience store, and indian halal restaurant. Little bit far from MRT station, but can hit the bus instead from the near bus stop.

About

Singapore is one of the busiest countries in the world in terms of tourist vacations. The mixture of Chinese, British, Indian, and Arabic cultures is apparent in the food, shops, and various neighbourhoods in the country. It is also known as a shopaholic’s haven as there are malls in every corner of the city.

Singapore Flyer

Meanwhile, Singapore has a booming arts scene backed with numerous galleries and museums. There are also several theme parks, nature reserves, temples, and beaches that can be visited all-year-round. At night, Singapore hosts one of the liveliest nightlife in Asia. In short, the Lion City is an all-rounder that can cater to any type of tourist. A week may not be enough to visit and do everything the country has to offer.

How to Get There

There are two major airports in Singapore: Changi International and Seletar airports. The larger one is the Changi International Airport (SIN). It won several awards for being the best airport in the world. The airport itself is a major tourist attraction in the country for its design, services, and facilities. The other smaller airport is the Seletar Airport and it’s designed to decongest the Changi Airport.

To get to the city centre, bus and train lines connect the airports to the most popular areas in Singapore like Marina Bay and Sentosa Island.

Getting Around

Singapore has an advanced subway system that can take you almost anywhere in the country. Purchase an EZ-Link card instead of single fare tickets for quicker travels. It’s also easy to access buses, but the numerous routes can be confusing to first-time visitors.

It’s impossible to get around the city by walking alone, although you can tour individual neighbourhoods on foot. Renting a car is an option but getting around on a private vehicle can be a huge hassle since Singapore has very busy streets. Meanwhile, taxis are expensive, so avoid them as much as possible.

Top Things to Do

You’ll never run out of things to do and to see in Singapore although it’s quite small. No tourist spot in Singapore is more famous than the iconic Merlion statue. You’ve never been to Singapore if you haven’t taken a single picture with the local icon. Meanwhile, to get a spectacular 360-degree view of the whole city, go up the Sands SkyPark Observation Deck.

Don’t miss an educational trip by visiting the National Gallery Singapore. It houses the largest collection of modern art in the whole of Southeast Asia. Oher art parks to visit are the Haw Par Villa and Gillman Barracks.

Gardens By The Bay Singapore

The Gardens by the Bay is a prominent tourist spot in Singapore that presents a large green space amidst the towering buildings of the city. And if you need more greens to calm your senses, visit the National Orchid Garden, Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

Are you seeking a Zen-filled journey? Visiting the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and the Sri Mariamman Temple are the recommended things to do in Singapore. Meanwhile, a visit to Sentosa Island is one of the things to do in Singapore that you shouldn’t miss. Beaches, theme parks, malls, and museums await you in this fun-filled playground for kids and adults.

At night, stroll along the Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade and watch a delightful water show accompanied by free performances and orchestra music. You can also end the day by touring the Orchard Road which is one of the most famous tourist spots in Singapore and is home to a number of malls, restaurants, and hotels.

What to Eat

laksa singapore

Singapore is famous for its sumptuous Laksa and you’ll find many stalls and restaurants selling them. Sungei Road Laksa is one of the most popular stalls that sell affordable but nonetheless mouthwatering Laksa.

Meanwhile, Hokkien Mee is another popular hawker dish. It’s made of fried egg noodles, bean sprouts, and different kinds of seafood. The Nam Sing Fried Hokkien Mee food stall is a legend when it comes to this dish.

The fragrant rice, the tender chicken, and the addicting sauce of Singapore’s Chicken Rice is loved by both locals and tourists. Tian Tian Chicken Rice, Hup Hong Chicken Rice, and Yet Con are the popular shops that serve this dish. For dessert, the Kaya Swiss Roll from Rich & Good Cake Shop is a must-try.

Nightlife

Clarke Quay is the place to experience Singapore nightlife. It’s filled with blocks of restaurants and bars that are open until the early morning. Whether you want to dine al fresco, listen to good music while drinking, or dance the night away, this area will surely quench your thirst for nightlife. Chupitos Shots Bar, Crazy Elephant, and Attica! are some of the notable bars in the area you should visit.

Where to Stay

Singapore hotels in Orchard Road offer accessibility to malls and restaurants. It’s the best place to stay for frequent shoppers. Colonial District is located at the center of Singapore, giving you easy access to the Quay and Marina Bay areas. If you’re into museums and art galleries, this is the place to look for hotels in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Marina Bay is where you can find luxury hotels and prominent tourist attractions. If you have money to spend, there’s no better hotel in Singapore than the Marina Bay Sands. It’s accessible to many of the tourist spots in Singapore and all public transportation.

Clarke Quay

The Quay areas, on the other hand, are for nocturnal people who love the nightlife. Bars and restaurants abound this location. For a hippy place filled with street art and busking artists, look for Singapore hotels in the Bugis and Kampong Glam area. For families, there’s no better place to book hotels in Singapore than in Sentosa Island. The place is filled with beaches, theme parks, shopping malls.

  • Tap water is safe to drink here, so bring your water bottle when you travel around.
  • Happy hour is from 5 AM to 9 PM. Stick to these hours as beer is expensive in Singapore.
