Punggol or also known as Ponggol is a planning area located on the Tanjong Punggol peninsula in the North-East Region of Singapore. This town which is bordered by Sengkang to the south shares its riverine borders with the planning area of Pasir Ras to the east and Seletar to the west. Boarding the city to the north and north-east is the Straits of Johor with Coney Island incorporated as a part of the Punggol arranging area. In the National Day Rally speech by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on 19 August 2007, he announced the Punggol 21-Plus plan to re-boost and redeveloped the city into a beautiful waterfront town. The work of turning it into a waterfront city started in 2009 and ended in 2011. There are engaging recreational facilities like water sports, gardens and parks with cycling and jogging tracks, eateries, floating island and rooftop gardens. With the area of 9.57 km squared, Punggol houses a population of approximately 146,640 people. Punggol is divided into seven subzones which are Coney Island, Northshore, Punggol Canal, Matilda, Punggol Field, Waterway East and Punggol Town Centre.
The destination is accessible by rapid mass transit or also known as MRT. Coming from Clarke Quay MRT Station, it would take nearly 26 minutes to arrive at Punggol MRT/LRT Station. Throughout the destination, you can sit back and enjoy the interesting view.
Those who plan to drive to the destination can use the Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway which provides a direct way to Punggol New Town via Tampines Expressway. If you are driving from Singapore City, it will take approximately 15 minutes to reach the awaited destination.
