Purwokerto Railway Station is a large-scale station owned by PT KAI (Persero) Operation Area 5 Purwokerto. This station opens seven tracks crossing Purwokerto with the destination and departure of Malang, Jakarta, Kutoarjo, Solo, Surabaya, Kroya, and Yogyakarta. Considering the location, it is placed on the east point of the double-track railways across the Southern Java line. Opened since 1917, these days Purwokerto Station already provides modern facilities similar to the airport.
The main station of Purwokerto is located at Jalan Stasiun Purwokerto, Kober Village, West Purwokerto, Banyumas, Central Java, 53132. This location is very strategic with easy public transport access for becak (tricycle) and the station-yellow-taxi. Some attractions close by the station are the Museum of People’s Bank of Indonesia, Sweet Market Purwokerto (Pasar Manis Purwokerto), and Train Park (Taman Kereta Api).
Lempuyangan Station plays a major role as a large station that specifically serves economy-AC class train and local commuter train in Yogyakarta. This station has been established since 1872 and now operated under the management of PT KAI (Persero) Operation Area 6 Yogyakarta. Every day, Lempuyangan Station opens eleven train tracks for the route of Yogyakarta – Jakarta, Solo, Blitar, Purwokerto, Surabaya, and Bandung.
The 146-year-old station is operated at Jalan Lempuyangan, Bausasran Village, Danurejan, Yogyakarta 55224. This location is so close to Lempuyangan Market. Tugu Station and Malioboro also can be found in less than 2 kilometers on the west side of Lempuyangan Station. The access to this station is a one-way road only, so it will be easier to reach it by local public transport, like becak or the public minibus (angkot).
