EgyptAir Seat Class

Economy Class

The Economy Class service is available on each EgyptAir aircraft. The EgyptAir Economy Class offers seats made from high-quality materials and spacious legroom, all in competitive fares, to provide maximum comfort to all its passengers. Particularly on long-haul flights, Economy Class passengers get to enjoy in-flight entertainment, which consists of a great selection of movies, music, games, TV shows and special programs for kids.

In-flight Meal

Each Economy Class passenger will get complimentary refreshments and a selection of drinks. Passengers on long-haul flights will be served with a three-course menu, consisting of an appetizer bread and salad; a choice of main course, such as pasta and chicken; and a choice of dessert, such as a brownie. With every meal made from fresh ingredients, the flight with EgyptAir will become more pleasant.

Business Class

Every seat in the Business Class cabin is covered in comfortable leather and can be reclined to a 180-degree fully flat position. It is also equipped with a USB port and electricity power socket, so that the passengers can charge their digital devices during the flight. Meanwhile, to keep the passengers entertained, EgyptAir also provides in-flight entertainment, from movies, TV shows and music, to games. Each passenger in EgyptAir’s Business Class will also get an amenity kit consisting of a toothbrush, toothpaste, socks and an eye mask.

In-flight Meal

Every EgyptAir Business Class passenger gets their in-flight meal services, which consists of an appetizer, an entrée and a dessert, on fancy dinnerware and dining utensils. If the passenger is on a diet program or has a special requirement for their meals, they can submit their special meal request to the EgyptAir staff before departure.

EgyptAir Privilege Programs

EgyptAir Plus

EgyptAir Plus, the passenger loyalty program of EgyptAir, has four membership tiers. They include Blue Card, Silver Card, Gold Card and Platinum Card. EgyptAir Plus members get privileges and rewards based on their membership tier. All, however, must present their membership card at the check-in counters in order to earn miles. Members are able to redeem their mileage for an extra baggage allowance, a flight class upgrade, and a free EgyptAir flight ticket, among others.

Airport Lounge

EgyptAir has two airport lounges in Cairo International Airport. Both Alioth Lounge and Al Genah Lounge are located on the third floor in Terminal 3 and offer a great selection of main courses, snacks and drinks. Passengers may also take advantage of the lounge’s provided PCs and working rooms to keep up with work. The lounge, which is also open to passengers of the airline’s Star Alliance partners, is also equipped with a WiFi connection.

EgyptAir Flight Attendant Uniform

EgyptAir flight attendants wear a black jacket dress with a pocket on each side of the waist. A scarf in light brown, yellow, black and pink, which the flight attendants wear around their neck, makes the outfit look sophisticated. Since November 2012, some flight attendants have also added a hijab or headscarf to their outfit.

EgyptAir Passenger Policy

Infant Passenger Policy (0-2 Years Old)
  • EgyptAir staff is available to assist mothers and babies throughout the flight.
  • EgyptAir provides carrycots at the frontrow of each cabin.
  • Passengers needing to use carrycots for their infants during the flight are required to submit a request for a bulkhead seat during booking.
  • Currently, bulkhead seats cannot be requested online. To request a bulkhead seat, passengers shall contact their local EgyptAir office.
  • Passengers must hold their infants on their lap during take-off and landing.
  • EgyptAir reserves the right not to carry newborn babies less than 7 days old.
  • Air travel is not recommended for premature babies unless a medical clearance form is submitted. A qualified physician, nurse or medical attendant must accompany premature babies requiring medical attention.
Child Passenger Policy (2-12 Years Old)
  • Children under 12 years old who are traveling alone without the supervision of an adult passenger are classified as Unaccompanied Minors (UM).
  • Seats for UM must be booked by contacting EgyptAir office, and parents or guardians must complete the UM form before checking in their children.
  • UM below 2 years old may not be accepted onboard.
  • UM between 2 to 12 years old must be delivered to the airport by an authorized guardian.
  • Upon the child’s arrival, the parents or guardian stated in the UM form must pick up the child at the airport.
  • Particularly for UM between 2 to 6 years old, airhostesses will accompany the child during the flight.
  • The UM flight fare is the same as the adult flight fare. An additional one-way full adult fare will also be charged to the passenger for the service of the airhost companion.
  • On ground, an EgyptAir ground staff will accompany the UM from customs and immigration all the way to the departure gate. On arrival, another staff will accompany the child to meet the appointed pick-up person.

Pregnant Passenger Policy
  • Pregnant passengers are advised to inform the airline of the condition of their pregnancy, which includes expected time of delivery and history of complications and multiple births.
  • Pregnant passengers in normal health with no pregnancy complication may be accepted onboard without medical clearance.
  • A medical clearance is required and must be issued seven (7) days prior to the date of travel if:
    • Child delivery is expected in less than four weeks.
    • There is uncertainty about the progress of pregnancy or time of delivery.
    • There have been instances of previous or possible multiple births or complications during delivery.
Disabled Passenger Policy
  • Seats close to cabin attendants and lavatories are prioritized for passengers with special needs to ensure their comfort onboard.
  • Wheelchair assistance is available for:
    • Passengers who are able to walk but require a wheelchair to travel to or from the gate.
    • Passengers who are able to walk but need assistance up or down the stairs.
    • Passengers who are not able to walk and need assistance to sit on the plane.
  • Therapeutic oxygen is available onboard under several conditions:
    • Passengers who need a therapeutic oxygen onboard must give a 48-hour notice to the EgyptAir crew.
    • Passengers must bring a completed copy of Medical Information (MEDIF), and the doctor must specify the passenger’s needs.
    • Cancellation of request must be made 72 hours in advance to allow the reusability of the oxygen unit.
  • For passengers on stretchers:
    • Passengers on stretchers are accepted only in Economy Class, and they must travel with an escort.
    • Reservations and special requests for the entire trip have to be made prior to departure.
    • Ambulance service shall be arranged by the passenger and a disclaimer of responsibility must be provided.
    • The full Economy Class fare is applied to the ill person in addition to a supplementary charge equal to five times the full normal fare in Economy Class for each leg of the trip where the stretcher is used.
    • The attendant accompanying the stretcher case will be charged any available fare.
  • For passengers with high body mass requiring a second seat:
    • Passengers must indicate that they require a second seat when making a reservation.
    • If the flight is full and the passenger has not reserved a second seat, he or she may be refused permission to board for safety reasons.

Every seat is covered with a comfortable leather material and can be reclined to a 180-degree fully flat position. It is also equipped with a USB port and a power socket, so that the passengers can charge their digital devices during the flight. To appreciate its loyal passengers, EgyptAir offers a frequent flyer program called EgyptAir Plus. They can present their membership card at the check-in counters before their flight to earn miles from the distance of their journey. Members are able to redeem their mileage for an extra baggage allowance, a flight upgrade and a free EgyptAir flight ticket. EgyptAir provides different baggage allowance for different flight class. Economy Class passengers are allowed to carry two piece of checked baggage with a maximum total weight of 23 kg, while Business Class passengers get to check in two pieces of baggage with a maximum total weight of 32 kg. In addition to that, EgyptAir allows Economy Class passengers to bring one piece of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 8 kg, and Business Class passengers two pieces of cabin baggage with a maximum weight of 8 kg each. The check-in counters for international flights open three hours before the departure and close at least 60 minutes before the flight. Meanwhile, for domestic flights, the check-in counters open two hours before the departure and close at least 30 minutes before the flight. EgyptAir History

EgyptAir’s journey began when Alan Muntz, the chairman of Airwork airline, visited Egypt in 1931. Muntz had wanted to open a new airline and the government of Egypt granted a permission. A new airline called Misr Airwork was then born in 1932, but it didn’t start operating until 1933. About decade later during World War II, the Egyptian government took over the airline and changed its name to Misr Airlines, which then was changed again to Misrair in 1946. Following the formation of the United Arab Republic by Egypt and Syria, Misrair changed its name to United Arab Airlines (UAA) in 1958. Then in 1971, following the split of Egypt and Syria, the airline changed its name yet again to its current name EgyptAir. The airline inherited UAA’s staff, equipment, assets and liabilities, but in 2002, the airline underwent a major corporate re-engineering, where its structure was changed from a governmental organization to a holding company with subsidiaries. Since the restructure, EgyptAir has achieved many certificates from international bodies. In 2004, EgyptAir became the first airline in Africa to have an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). Four years later, precisely in July 2008, EgyptAir officially became the 21st member of Star Alliance, the biggest global alliance in the world. This has become one of the most important milestones in EgyptAir’s journey, allowing EgyptAir to offer better flight connections and more comfortable travel. Thanks to this, now EgyptAir’s passengers also get an access to dozens of airport lounges worldwide. EgyptAir is the only airline based in the Middle East and North Africa that is part of the Global Star alliance. In 2009, EgyptAir’s operation at its Cairo International Airport hub were overhauled due to the inauguration of the new Terminal 3 in April 2009. The airline transferred all its operations to the new terminal which offers double the capacity. Under the Star Alliance “Move Under One Roof” campaign at Cairo Airport, all Star Alliance member carriers moved to the new Terminal 3. In 2010, the airline also overhauled operations at its Alexandria hub by transferring operations to Borg El Arab Airport. EgyptAir also has a secondary hub that is located at Hurghada International Airport, Luxor International Airport, and Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport. The period of 2009 – 2010 became one of the most important ones for EgyptAir, as the airline announced its new joint venture with Aviation Capital Group (ACG) and the Egyptian private and public shareholders. The joint venture, called Civil Aviation Finance and Operation Leases (CIAF-Leasing), focused its operation on serving flights to the Middle East and Northern Africa, operating narrow body aircraft. After more than 84 years of operation, today EgyptAir operates more than 75 aircraft to 79 destinations worldwide. The airline uses at least nine types of aircraft in its operation. They are Airbus A320-232, Airbus A321-231, Airbus A330-243, Airbus A330-300, Airbus A340-212, Boeing B737-500, Boeing B737-800, Boeing B777-200, and Boeing B777-300. EgyptAir also owns several subsidiaries, which are Air Cairo, Air Sinai, EgyptAir Cargo, EgyptAir Express and Smart Aviation Company.
