My first time at this hotel. It's a luxury hotel, but they often have promotional prices. There's a swimming pool, gym, cool air conditioning, and friendly staff. The service is excellent. We asked the customer service at IG Hotel about charging our electric car, and the staff responded promptly. Thank you to the security team, especially the chief, Mr. Mus, who welcomed us with open arms. Five thumbs up. If you want to go to Blok M, you're just a short walk across the street, hehe.

I had a wonderful stay and a great experience. The service was excellent—every staff member was friendly, welcoming, and always greeted guests with a smile. They were also very responsive and quick to assist whenever needed. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. The facilities were great, and I really appreciated that there were daily activities available for both adults and children, making the stay enjoyable for everyone. My only suggestion for improvement is the breakfast. I hope the hotel can enhance the taste and offer a wider variety of food options in the future. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel and would be happy to stay here again.

It turns out that the Zebra room option can accommodate 10 adults because it has 1 King bed and 4 single beds. The area is very child-friendly and there are many outdoor activities for children to do. The water park is not too large but this is good because it makes it easier to control the guards when there are many playing in the pool area. Around the area there is also a lake where the Black Swan parked and there is a collection of animals such as elephants, giraffes, reptiles, etc. Thank you so much to all Royal Safari staff

We had a very satisfying and enjoyable staycation at Eastparc Hotel with our family. The kids had so many activities to choose from, and it felt like one night wouldn't be enough. Luckily, the hotel allows guests to enjoy the facilities and rides before and after check-in, so the kids could try everything without missing a thing. Check-in was easy and fast, and our room was ready an hour and a half before the normal check-in time. We got a room with a really cool pool view. The room was comfortable and safe enough for an active crawling baby (it had a carpet, an extra bed, and a childproof socket), so mom could relax. The staff was also friendly and helpful. Incidentally, there was a brief earthquake while we were in the room, and the staff quickly directed us to the emergency stairs. Even downstairs, staff were quick to offer us drinking water and slippers (because my dad and older sister forgot their slippers while running, hehe). The 24-hour customer service was also responsive when asked for assistance. Hopefully, we'll have another opportunity to stay here again, and the facilities can continue to improve in terms of quantity and quality :)

For those seeking an adventure that expands horizons, Indonesia offers a unique blend of the exotic and the accessible, promising journeys that resonate deeply with the Filipino spirit of exploration and appreciation for beauty. It’s a destination where every island tells a different story, inviting you to become part of its ongoing narrative. The sheer diversity of Indonesia is its most compelling attribute, ensuring that no two visits are ever quite the same. From the urban pulse of Jakarta Pusat and the trendy enclaves of Blok M and Kebayoran Baru to the cultural heart of Bandung and the natural allure of Balikpapan, each region offers a distinct flavour. Whether you're drawn to the bustling markets of Makassar, the serene highlands, or the coastal charm of Kendari, Indonesia provides a spectrum of environments to suit every mood and interest, making it a destination that can be revisited time and again for entirely new adventures. For travellers from the Philippines, understanding the practicalities of visiting Indonesia is key to a smooth and enjoyable trip. With an average review score of 8.4 across millions of stays, the accommodation landscape is robust and reliable, offering excellent value. While prices can vary, the starting point of around ₱1,000 per night for many establishments signifies that a comfortable and well-appointed stay is well within reach for most budgets, allowing for extended explorations or more luxurious experiences without significant financial strain. Consider the allure of Yogyakarta, a city that embodies Indonesia's soul. It's a place where ancient traditions meet contemporary life, where the majestic Borobudur temple stands as a silent witness to centuries of history, and where the intricate art of batik is still practiced with passion. This cultural richness, combined with a vibrant culinary scene and the warmth of its people, makes Yogyakarta a microcosm of what Indonesia offers. Finding the perfect place to stay here is part of the journey, and with Traveloka, you can easily book hotel options that place you right in the middle of this captivating atmosphere. Indonesia's appeal is broad, catering to a wide array of travellers. Families will find engaging activities and child-friendly resorts, particularly in areas like Bandung and Yogyakarta. Couples seeking romance can discover secluded villas and boutique hotels in more tranquil settings. Solo adventurers will appreciate the ease of navigation and the welcoming nature of the locals, especially in major cities like Jakarta and Makassar. Business travellers, too, will find well-equipped hotels with excellent facilities in commercial hubs, ensuring productivity is maintained even while abroad.

Best Areas to Stay in Indonesia

Indonesia is a nation of islands, each with its own unique character, and choosing where to base yourself is crucial to shaping your travel experience. From the busy cityes to serene natural retreats, the country offers a diverse range of environments. Understanding the distinct atmosphere of each region will help you select the perfect starting point for your Indonesian adventure, ensuring your trip aligns with your interests, whether they lie in cultural immersion, natural exploration, or urban discovery.

Jakarta

As Indonesia's sprawling capital, Jakarta is a city of contrasts, where modern skyscrapers stand alongside colonial-era buildings and traditional markets. It's a destination that pulses with energy, offering a dynamic urban experience for those who thrive in a fast-paced environment. For Filipino travellers, Jakarta provides a gateway to the archipelago, with excellent transport links and a wealth of dining and entertainment options. It's particularly well-suited for business travellers and those keen to explore the country's contemporary culture and shopping scene.

Within Jakarta, areas like Jakarta Pusat offer proximity to major business districts and iconic landmarks such as the Monas National Monument and the Istiqlal Mosque. Kebayoran Baru and Blok M are known for their trendy cafes, boutiques, and vibrant nightlife, appealing to younger travellers and those seeking a more contemporary vibe. Getting around the city can be an adventure in itself, with options ranging from the TransJakarta bus system to ride-hailing apps, making it easy to navigate between different districts and discover hidden culinary gems.

Bandung

set in the highlands of West Java, Bandung is often referred to as the "Paris of Java" for its pleasant climate, colonial architecture, and fashionable shopping scene. It's a city that exudes a more relaxed and artistic atmosphere compared to Jakarta, making it a favourite for weekend getaways and cultural explorations. For Filipino travellers, Bandung offers a refreshing escape with its cooler temperatures and picturesque surroundings, ideal for couples and families looking for a blend of nature and urban charm.

Bandung is renowned for its creative industries, particularly its textile and fashion outlets, as well as its burgeoning culinary landscape, featuring unique cafes and traditional Sundanese cuisine. The city is also a gateway to natural wonders like Tangkuban Perahu volcano and the Kawah Putih crater lake. From Bandung, you can easily book attraction tickets to explore these natural marvels and spend time in the region's beauty.

Yogyakarta

Yogyakarta, or "Jogja" as it's affectionately known, is the cultural heart of Java and worth visiting for anyone seeking to understand Indonesia's rich heritage. This city is a living museum, home to ancient temples, traditional arts, and a deeply ingrained sense of Javanese culture. For Filipino travellers interested in history and the arts, Yogyakarta offers an unparalleled glimpse into Indonesia's past and present, making it a profoundly rewarding destination for solo travellers and culture enthusiasts.

The city's most famous landmarks include the magnificent Borobudur and Prambanan temples, UNESCO World Heritage sites that draw visitors from around the globe. Within the city itself, the Sultan's Palace (Kraton) and the Taman Sari water castle are key attractions. Yogyakarta is also a hub for batik making and traditional puppetry (wayang kulit). The culinary scene is equally rich, with local specialties like Gudeg (jackfruit stew) being a highlight. Getting around is convenient, with becaks (rickshaws) and taxis readily available, and the city's compact nature makes it easy to explore on foot.

Makassar

As the largest city on Sulawesi island, Makassar is a bustling port city with a rich maritime history and a distinct cultural identity. It serves as a gateway to the exotic eastern parts of Indonesia and is known for its delicious seafood and unique Bugis culture. For Filipino travellers looking to venture beyond Java and Bali, Makassar offers an authentic glimpse into a different facet of Indonesia, appealing to adventurous spirits and food lovers alike.

Makassar's waterfront is a lively area, famous for its fresh seafood restaurants where you can choose your catch of the day. The historic Fort Rotterdam offers a glimpse into the city's colonial past, while the nearby islands, such as the Spermonde Archipelago, provide opportunities for snorkeling and diving. The city is also a starting point for exploring the Toraja highlands, known for their unique funeral ceremonies and traditional houses. Transportation within Makassar includes taxis and local bemo (minibuses), and the city's airport connects it to major Indonesian cities.

Balikpapan

Located on the east coast of Borneo, Balikpapan is a city that has grown significantly due to its oil and gas industry, yet it retains a connection to nature with its surrounding rainforests and coastal areas. It's a practical base for exploring East Kalimantan's natural attractions, including national parks and wildlife reserves. For Filipino travellers interested in ecotourism and experiencing Borneo's unique biodiversity, Balikpapan serves as an accessible entry point.

Balikpapan offers a blend of urban amenities and natural beauty. Visitors can explore the city's beaches, such as Pantai Lamaru, or venture inland to discover the mangrove forests and the unique proboscis monkeys. The city is also a hub for business travellers due to its industrial importance. Getting around Balikpapan is typically done via taxis or ride-hailing services, and the Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Airport provides connections to other major Indonesian cities, making it a convenient stop for those exploring the eastern islands.

A Taste of Indonesia: Culinary Delights for Every Palate

Indonesia's culinary landscape is a vibrant reflection of its diverse cultures and geography, offering a gastronomic journey that is as rich and varied as its islands. From the fiery spices of Sumatra to the sweet delicacies of Java and the fresh seafood of Sulawesi, each region presents unique flavours and dishes that are a delight to explore. For travellers from the Philippines, experiencing Indonesian cuisine is an essential part of understanding the nation's identity and heritage. One of Indonesia's most iconic dishes is Nasi Goreng, a flavourful fried rice that is a staple across the archipelago. While fried rice is familiar in the Philippines, Indonesian Nasi Goreng often features a distinct sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) base, sometimes accompanied by a fried egg, chicken, or shrimp, and often served with kerupuk (crackers). Another must-try is Satay, skewers of marinated meat grilled over charcoal and served with a rich peanut sauce. The variety of satay, from chicken (sate ayam) to lamb (sate kambing), offers a delicious exploration of local tastes. Finding authentic Indonesian food is an adventure in itself. Major cities like Jakarta, Bandung, and Yogyakarta are dotted with traditional warungs (small eateries), bustling night markets, and upscale restaurants. For Muslim travellers from the Philippines, Indonesia is largely a Muslim-majority country, meaning halal food is widely available. Many restaurants clearly label their halal status, and it's common to find certified halal eateries, especially in areas with significant Muslim populations. Exploring local markets often provides the most authentic and affordable dining experiences. The regional diversity of Indonesian cuisine is a compelling reason to travel across the archipelago. In Bali, you'll find Babi Guling (suckling pig) and Bebek Betutu (slow-cooked duck), while in Sumatra, dishes like Rendang (spicy meat stew) and Gulai (curry) showcase bold flavours. Sulawesi offers fresh seafood and unique dishes like Coto Makassar (beef soup). This culinary variation means that each city or region visited offers a distinct gastronomic experience, encouraging travellers to sample local specialties and discover new favourites. Navigating dining in Indonesia is generally straightforward for Filipino travellers. Meal times are similar, with lunch typically being the main meal of the day. Tipping is not always customary in smaller eateries, but a small service charge may be added to bills in more formal restaurants. Prices can range from very affordable in local warungs to more expensive in high-end establishments. Learning a few basic Indonesian phrases for ordering can enhance the experience, and embracing the local way of eating, often with hands or a spoon and fork, adds to the cultural immersion.

Navigating Indonesian Culture and Ensuring a Safe Journey

Understanding local customs and prioritizing safety are paramount for any traveller, and Indonesia is no exception. While generally a welcoming country, being aware of certain cultural norms and practical safety tips will ensure a smoother and more enjoyable trip for visitors from the Philippines. This knowledge allows for respectful interactions and helps in navigating the country with confidence and ease. One key aspect of Indonesian etiquette is the importance of politeness and respect, particularly when interacting with elders or those in positions of authority. It's customary to use the right hand for giving and receiving items, as the left hand is sometimes considered unclean. Public displays of affection are generally frowned upon, and dressing modestly, especially when visiting religious sites or rural areas, is advisable. Indonesians are known for their hospitality, and a friendly demeanor will be met with warmth. When visiting places of worship, such as mosques or temples, adherence to dress codes is essential. This typically involves covering shoulders and knees, and sometimes removing shoes before entering. Photography is usually permitted, but it's always polite to ask for permission before taking pictures of people. In more commercial attractions, maintaining a respectful distance and being mindful of personal space are appreciated. Understanding these nuances helps in showing respect for local traditions and ensuring a positive experience for everyone. For practical safety, it's wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded markets or public transport. Keeping valuables secure and using reputable transportation services, such as registered taxis or ride-hailing apps like Grab (where available), is recommended. While Indonesia is generally safe, it's always prudent to have emergency contact information readily accessible. Staying informed about local conditions and exercising common sense are the best ways to ensure a secure trip. In case of emergencies, knowing the local emergency numbers is crucial. For health concerns, travel insurance is highly recommended, and it's advisable to consult with your doctor regarding any necessary vaccinations before your trip. For Filipino citizens travelling abroad, it's also beneficial to know the contact details of the Philippines Embassy or Consulate in Indonesia, should you require assistance. Being prepared with this information can provide peace of mind throughout your journey.

Your Indonesian Adventure: A Practical Travel Guide

Planning a trip from the Philippines to Indonesia involves a few key considerations, from booking flights to understanding the best times to visit and how to navigate the country. With a little preparation, your journey to this diverse archipelago can be seamless and incredibly rewarding, offering a wealth of experiences that cater to every type of traveller. Getting to Indonesia from the Philippines is straightforward, with numerous flight options available from major airports like Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila and Mactan-Cebu International Airport. Airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, and budget carriers frequently operate routes to key Indonesian cities like Jakarta and Denpasar. Flight durations typically range from 3 to 5 hours, depending on the specific route and layovers. To find the best deals and convenient schedules, it's advisable to book flight tickets in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. Once you arrive in Indonesia, navigating between cities and within them is relatively easy. For intercity travel, domestic flights are common and efficient for covering long distances, with airlines like Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air serving many routes. For shorter distances or a more scenic journey, trains are a popular option on Java, offering a comfortable way to see the countryside. Buses are also widely available and are a budget-friendly choice for inter-island travel. Within cities, ride-hailing apps, taxis, and local public transport provide convenient ways to get around. The best time to visit Indonesia from the Philippines generally falls during the dry season, which typically runs from May to September. During these months, you can expect sunny days and lower humidity, making it ideal for exploring outdoor attractions and enjoying the beaches. The wet season, from October to April, brings higher rainfall, though it often occurs in short, intense bursts, and can offer lower prices and fewer crowds. Considering these patterns can help in planning a trip that aligns with your preferred weather and budget. Before you depart, a few pre-trip preparations will ensure a smooth experience. The Indonesian Rupiah (IDR) is the local currency; exchange rates can be checked online, and it's advisable to carry some cash for smaller purchases, though credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and larger establishments. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival can be cost-effective for staying connected. Essential apps to consider include ride-hailing services and translation apps. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay.

Visa Requirements for Filipino Citizens Traveling to Indonesia

For citizens of the Philippines planning a visit to Indonesia, understanding the visa requirements is a crucial step in the travel preparation process. Fortunately, Indonesia offers a welcoming entry policy for many nationalities, including Filipinos, making international travel more accessible and straightforward. Filipino passport holders can enter Indonesia visa-free for tourism purposes for a stay of up to 30 days. This visa exemption allows for easy and convenient travel for short trips, whether for leisure, visiting friends, or attending short business meetings. It is important to note that this visa-free entry is typically for tourism and may not cover activities such as employment or long-term study. When entering Indonesia under the visa-free provision, travellers are generally required to present a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity. It is also advisable to have proof of onward or return travel, such as a confirmed book flight ticket, and sufficient funds to cover your stay. While not always strictly enforced for visa-free entry, travel insurance is highly recommended to cover any unforeseen medical expenses or travel disruptions. It is always prudent for travellers to verify the latest visa regulations with the official Indonesian Embassy or Consulate in the Philippines before their departure, as immigration policies can be subject to change. Staying informed ensures that you meet all entry requirements and can enjoy a hassle-free journey into this fascinating country.
