Borg El Arab Airport is the main airport for Alexandria, Egypt's great Mediterranean port city. It has been officially renamed Alexandria International Airport, although many travellers and booking sites still use the Borg El Arab name, and the IATA code remains HBE. The airport handles both international and domestic flights for Alexandria and the north coast.

The airport stands in the desert southwest of the city, near the town of Borg El Arab. Central Alexandria is roughly 40 to 50 km away by road, depending on which district you are heading to. Expect a drive of around an hour to an hour and a half, depending on traffic.
