Daegu International Airport (TAE) serves Daegu and the surrounding region in southeastern South Korea. It is a compact, easy airport that handles mainly domestic flights plus a growing set of short international routes. The airfield is shared with the Republic of Korea Air Force, which uses it as a fighter base.
TAE is in Dong-gu, a few kilometres northeast of central Daegu. That makes it much closer to the city than many Korean airports. Ayanggyo Station on Daegu Metro Line 1 is a short bus or taxi ride away, and Dongdaegu Station, Daegu's KTX high-speed rail hub, is also nearby.
The airport has two small terminals, one domestic and one international. The international terminal draws on traditional Korean design motifs. There is a large car park beside the terminals. Because this is also a military base, taking photos or video of the runway, apron or military facilities is strictly prohibited.
The main domestic link is to Jeju Island, served by carriers including Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air and Jin Air. International flights, largely run by low-cost carriers, connect Daegu with destinations elsewhere in Asia, such as Japan, China, Southeast Asia and Taiwan. The mix of routes changes often, so check the latest schedule for your dates.
Daegu is known for its lively Seomun Market, the herbal medicine alleys of Yangnyeongsi and hiking on nearby Palgongsan mountain. The historic city of Gyeongju is also within easy reach by train or road.
If you are arriving on the KTX, allow time for the bus or taxi connection from Dongdaegu Station. Keep cameras away during take-off and landing, as photography rules are enforced. Compare Daegu flights and book on Traveloka.
