Preparing a journey from the Philippines? Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU) serves Chengdu from Lujia Town in Jianyang, Sichuan, about 50 km from the city center. It has two passenger terminals: Terminal 1 (T1) handles international, regional and some domestic flights, while Terminal 2 (T2) handles domestic flights. Chengdu also has Shuangliu Airport (CTU), so confirm the airport code before arranging your transfer.
T1 serves international flights, including services to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as some mainland domestic flights. A domestic itinerary alone therefore does not settle which Tianfu terminal you need. Use the terminal on your e-ticket and follow your operating airline's instructions.
T2 is the domestic terminal. Check the building before entering the departure hall rather than choosing a queue solely by destination. The Ground Transportation Centre, or GTC, sits between T1 and T2 and brings terminal access and ground transport together.
TFU is Tianfu's IATA code; its ICAO code is ZUTF. CTU refers to Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, a separate airport. Both airports operate flights to Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, making the three-letter code especially useful when checking a regional booking.
Metro Line 18 serves the airport T1 and T2 station in the GTC and connects with the city metro network. Check the train destination and plan the onward changes for your actual accommodation address. Leave time to reach the terminal from the GTC when returning for a flight.
For a TFU-to-CTU transfer, follow metro signs to the GTC L1 area for Line 19. Direct and ordinary train services have different stopping patterns. Check the destination and train type on the station display, and leave time at Shuangliu for the next flight's check-in and security steps.
Tianfu Airport railway station is beneath the GTC and has rail services towards Chengdu and other cities in Sichuan. This railway station and the airport metro station are different services. Match the departure station and destination on your train booking before joining a queue or heading to a platform.
The GTC also gathers airport buses, taxis and ride-hailing connections. Airport shuttle services include city links and the airport bus connection to Shuangliu. Read the destination before boarding, as a bus for CTU serves an airport transfer rather than your central Chengdu address.
For a taxi or booked car, use the designated pickup signs and share the full destination. Arrange where to meet only after confirming T1 or T2 with your driver. Road travel depends on the destination and traffic, so keep airport travel separate from the time needed for airline processing.
Tianfu has terminal parking structures. Drivers should confirm the passenger's terminal and follow signs for the corresponding parking route. If you are collecting someone, agree on a meeting point after baggage collection and record where the car is parked.
T2 has rest areas before and after security, with reclining seating. Charging seats and bars are available in the rest areas; bring a compatible cable and check the charging point before relying on it. Airside rest areas require the relevant passenger checks, and an overnight stay should be discussed with airport staff. Baby-care rooms are near T2 rest areas; follow the current terminal signs.
Dining outlets and retail areas are available in the terminal commercial spaces, including duty-free shopping areas. Choose an outlet you can access from your terminal and passenger area. Check the allowances for goods you plan to take onward, and keep your boarding time in mind when stopping for a meal or shopping.
Review each airport code when booking a connection through Chengdu. A journey arriving at TFU and departing from CTU includes a ground transfer between separate airports. Check baggage instructions with the airline and allow for any required collection, new check-in and security before choosing a connection.
For departure from Tianfu itself, follow the airline's arrival and check-in advice for your booking. The T1 or T2 assignment, the city transfer and the route through the GTC are separate parts of the plan. Keeping the e-ticket accessible helps you verify the building before unloading luggage.
Compare flights on Traveloka with TFU selected, then review the operating airline and any connecting airports. The date-based schedule section shows upcoming flights and planned times. Route searches may include connections, so inspect the itinerary before assuming a result is a direct flight.
Book a suitable Chengdu itinerary on Traveloka and keep the e-ticket available. For updates to an individual flight, use the flight-status hub.
