Summary: Jatijajar Terminal
Jatijajar Terminal, located at kilometer 37 of Jalan Raya Bogor, Jatijajar Village, Tapos District, Depok, serves as a Type A passenger terminal, playing a vital role in the transportation network of West Java. As a major hub for intercity and interprovincial routes, the terminal facilitates the mobility of Depok residents and the surrounding areas, establishing itself as a key public transportation facility that supports both long-distance and local travel.
About Jatijajar Terminal
Jatijajar Type A Passenger Terminal was officially opened to the public by the Jabodetabek Transportation Management Agency (BPTJ) on March 13, 2019, following its inauguration on September 17, 2018. The terminal was built as part of efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in Depok, with its strategic location on Jalan Raya Bogor kilometer 37, a site previously known for its teak trees. According to Depok’s Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), this location was selected due to its proximity to the Cinere-Jagorawi toll road, making it an ideal transport hub connecting various regions. The primary goal of Jatijajar Terminal is to alleviate congestion, particularly in traffic-heavy areas such as Jalan Margonda and Jalan Raya Bogor.
Initially, the terminal was managed by the Depok City Government but was later handed over to the Ministry of Transportation. Given its location within the Jabodetabek region, the management was further entrusted to BPTJ to ensure the terminal's operations aligned with regional transportation policies. Jabodetabek, as a major urban area, requires an integrated transportation system, and Jatijajar Terminal is part of this coordinated effort. In April 2019, the terminal became fully operational, catering to both short- and long-distance passenger needs.
Capacity and Operations
Spanning an area of 103,721 square meters, Jatijajar Terminal can accommodate a large number of passengers and a variety of transport modes. It serves urban transport and long-distance buses, including Intercity Interprovincial Buses (AKAP) with routes across Java, Sumatra, and Bali, and Intercity Intraprovisional Buses (AKDP). Since March 13, 2019, all AKAP buses have been required to use this terminal for boarding and alighting passengers, followed by AKDP buses on April 13, 2019. This policy has proven effective in reducing traffic, particularly in the PAL UI intersection, which had been a major congestion point for years.
Bus Operators and Services
Jatijajar Terminal also functions as a hub for various bus operators (POs). Currently, 55 POs operate within the terminal, serving AKAP routes with a total fleet of 285 buses. Additionally, 9 POs serve AKDP routes with a total of 69 buses. The terminal is equipped with 58 ticket agents, offering passengers convenient options for purchasing and printing tickets directly at the terminal. In addition to intercity services, the terminal serves a local urban transport route, D 06, as well as a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route connecting Margonda Terminal and Jatijajar Terminal, further enhancing transportation options in Depok.
Impact and Importance
The opening of Jatijajar Type A Terminal has had a significant impact on improving transportation services in Depok and its surroundings. Besides reducing traffic congestion on key roads, the terminal provides a seamless and convenient experience for passengers with integrated services and facilities. It has become more than just a transit point; it is a crucial element in enhancing mobility and accessibility for residents of Jabodetabek and major islands in Indonesia.
