About Joyoboyo Terminal

Strategically positioned north of the Kali Mas riverbank and adjacent to Jalan Daendels—the main road traversing Surabaya—Terminal Joyoboyo is close to key landmarks such as Wonokromo Station, Surabaya Zoo (KBS), and Darmo Trade Center (DTC), making it a crucial transportation hub.

Covering an area of approximately 11,134 square meters, the terminal serves as a major hub for various public transportation modes. It provides services for city transport (bemo), public passenger cars (MPU), city buses, Suroboyo Bus, and intercity buses, establishing it as a vital transit center for Surabaya residents.

According to the Minister of Transportation's Decree No. 30 of 1995 on Road Transportation Terminals, Terminal Joyoboyo is classified as a Type B passenger terminal. This classification reflects its role in serving city, rural, and provincial intercity transport. The terminal is managed by the Surabaya City Government. However, with the enactment of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 23 of 2014 on Regional Government, the management of Type B passenger terminals is now under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Government of East Java.

Terminal Joyoboyo also serves as a primary point for 18 city transport (bemo) routes in Surabaya, connecting various sub-terminals and vehicle parking areas in the west, north, and south of the city. In addition to city routes, it also serves border transport routes linking to neighboring districts such as Gresik and Sidoarjo. Gresik border transport covers areas like Menganti and Kota Baru Driyorejo, while Sidoarjo border transport serves regions such as Gedongan (Wadungasri), Sedati, and Sidoarjo.

The only intercity provincial (AKDP) bus route at Terminal Joyoboyo is the Joyoboyo - Mojokerto route. This route uses a medium bus with dark green livery, commonly known as the "green bus" by locals. The bus has a capacity of 26 passengers and offers economy class facilities. The green bus route covers a distance of 49 km, starting from the terminal and stopping at various points along the way before ending at Kertajaya Terminal (Mojokerto).

The green bus has a separate shelter located north of the terminal, specifically in front of the former Wonokromo Tram Station building. Bus departures are scheduled from 04:30 to 20:00 WIB, with an interval of approximately 10 minutes between departures. Payment is made on the bus by the conductor, without going through agents or ticket counters. The fare is Rp. 12,000 (as of 2019).

Approximately 100 kiosks are available for various needs, including food, drinks, and daily necessities, making it convenient for visitors to find what they need in one place.

4. Lactation Room

Offers a dedicated space designed for the comfort and privacy of breastfeeding mothers, ensuring their needs and those of their babies are well met.

5. Prayer Room

Provides a space for religious activities, supporting spiritual needs while in the terminal.

6. Traffic Playground Zone

An educational playground designed for children to learn about traffic rules and safety through interactive play.

7. Control Room

Features a control room equipped with CCTV to monitor activities throughout the terminal, enhancing security and oversight.

8. Green Area

The terminal includes an open green space designed with unobstructed landscaping, providing refreshing open areas and supporting environmental sustainability.

9. Energy-Efficient Lighting

The building is equipped with energy-efficient lighting to reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental impact.

10. Energy-Saving Features

Elevators and escalators use energy-saving technology to reduce energy consumption and improve operational efficiency.

11. Water Recycling

A gray water recycling system is used for irrigation and toilet flushing, supporting water conservation and sustainable resource management.

12. Drop-off Area

Provides a designated area for private vehicles and transit vehicles to drop off passengers, allowing visitors to stop briefly without disrupting the main parking traffic.
