About Purabaya Terminal

Purabaya Terminal, frequently referred to as Bungurasih Terminal, is a Class A bus terminal catering to travel to and from Surabaya and nearby areas. Located in Bungurasih Village, Waru District, Sidoarjo Regency, East Java Province, it serves as a key access point for vehicles coming from the west, south, and east towards Surabaya. Covering an area of 11.9 hectares, Purabaya Terminal is a vital transportation hub. Although situated in Sidoarjo Regency, the terminal is managed by the Surabaya City Government under a cooperation agreement that began in 1991. However, management was transferred to the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia in 2022.

Every day, the terminal handles approximately 1,078 intercity buses carrying around 27,833 passengers, and dispatches 1,063 intercity buses with 30,790 passengers. This high level of activity makes Purabaya Terminal one of the busiest bus terminals in Southeast Asia, according to various media reports.

In addition to being a bus center, Purabaya Terminal also functions as a transit point for various types of public transportation. This includes rural transport from Sidoarjo, border services between Sidoarjo and Surabaya, and intercity transport. Inside the terminal, various urban transportation modes operate, such as regular city buses, airport buses, Suroboyo Bus, Trans Jatim, and Trans Semanggi Suroboyo. Additionally, the terminal connects Surabaya with various regions in Java, Madura, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and even Sumatra through a range of intercity bus services of different classes.
