Khon Kaen Airport is roughly 5 to 8 km west of the city centre. A taxi ride usually takes about 20 minutes.
The IATA code is KKC and the ICAO code is VTUK.
Airlines at Khon Kaen include Thai AirAsia, Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet Air.
Both. Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air fly to Don Mueang, while Thai Airways and Thai Vietjet Air fly to Suvarnabhumi.
Yes. Thai AirAsia operates flights between Khon Kaen and Chiang Mai.

Khon Kaen Airport, code KKC, is the main airport for Khon Kaen, a large university and business city in the heart of Isan, Thailand's northeast. It is run by the Department of Airports under the Ministry of Transport. The airport is registered as a customs airport, which allows it to handle international flights, although day-to-day traffic is mostly domestic.
The airport is in Ban Pet subdistrict, Mueang Khon Kaen district, on the western side of the city. Published figures put it roughly 5 to 8 km from the centre. That is close enough for a quick ride to most hotels, and on a clear road you can be in town within about 20 minutes.
The passenger area has been greatly enlarged. A new terminal building now works alongside the original one, giving a combined floor area of around 44,500 square metres and room for about 5 million passengers a year. Food outlets are on the ground floor, with check-in, departures and arrivals on the levels above. Car rental companies also have counters at the airport.
Bangkok is by far the main destination, with flights to both of the capital's airports. Airlines on the Bangkok routes include Thai AirAsia, Thai Airways, Thai Lion Air and Thai Vietjet Air. Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air use Don Mueang, while Thai Airways and Thai Vietjet Air fly to Suvarnabhumi, which is handy if you are connecting to an international flight.
Thai AirAsia also links Khon Kaen with Chiang Mai, so you can travel between the northeast and the north without going through Bangkok.
Bueng Kaen Nakhon, the lake near the city centre, is a popular spot for walks and evening markets. Beside it, the nine-level pagoda of Wat Nong Wang gives wide views over the city. Further out, Phu Wiang is known for its dinosaur fossils and museum, and the wider province makes a good base for exploring rural Isan.
Check which Bangkok airport your flight uses, since Don Mueang and Suvarnabhumi are far apart. If you are connecting to an international flight, a Suvarnabhumi arrival saves an extra transfer across the city.
