This Siargao Airport is located in the Surigao del Norte province in the Philippines. This Siargao Airport is also located in the Sayak district in the municipality of Del Carmen. The Philippines Civil Aviation Authority classified this Siargao Airport as a class two principal airport. The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines is one of the body in the Department of Transportation and Communications that responsible for all of the airport in the Philippines except for the major international airports. The late President Diosdado Macapagal built the Siargao airport in the year of 1963. In 2008, a project called as Super Regions Program was initiated by President Gloria Arroyo to improve economic activity through infrastructure project. This Siargao Airport can only handle and accommodate 19-seater planes from Cebu. However, this Siargao Airport has been renovated and upgraded so that the airport can handle bigger planes than can carry more than 100 passengers.
According to the climate classification by Koppen, Siargao has a tropical rainforest climate. The hottest month in Siargao is in May where the temperature can be as high as 31 °C while the coldest month in Siargao is in January where the temperature is around 28 °C.
