Gardens by the Bay is a nature park spanning 101 hectares of reclaimed land in the Central Region of Singapore, adjacent to the Marina Reservoir. The park consists of three waterfront gardens which are Bay South Garden, Bay East Garden and Bay Central Garden. The largest of the gardens is Bay South Garden at 54 hectares designed by Grant Associates. Its Flower Dome is the largest glass greenhouse in the world.
Gardens by the Bay is part of the nation's plans to transform its "Garden City" to a "City in a Garden," to raise the quality of life by enhancing greenery and flora in the city. First announced by the Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, at the National Day Rally in 2005, Gardens by the Bay was intended to be Singapore's premier urban outdoor recreation space, and a national icon.
Getting to Singapore's iconic green park, Gardens by the Bay via MRT train is quick and easy. The Bayfront station (CE1) on the Circle Line is purpose-built for the convenience of visitors traveling to the Gardens. From Lavender MRT Station, Board train heading towards Joo Koon direction. The train will arrive on Platform B. Get off at City Hall Interchange MRT Station (NS25/EW13) or Raffles Place Interchange MRT Station (NS26/EW14). Transfer to North-South (Red) Line heading towards Marina Bay direction. Get off at Marina Bay MRT Station (NS27/CE2), the terminal station. Transfer to next train heading towards Stadium direction. The train will arrive on Platform A or B. Get off at Bayfront MRT Station (CE1). Look for “Exit B” and follow the underground link-way. Exit link-way, cross the Dragonfly Bridge and you will arrive at Gardens by the Bay. The entire train journey from Lavender MRT station (EW11) to Gardens by the Bay including transfers is approximately 20-25 minutes.
