Bandar Seri Begawan is the capital of the country and the royal city of Brunei. The original name of this city is Brunei Town. The Seri Begawan was named after Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien III on October 5, 1970. Its original name was Bandar Brunei or Brunei Town. Bandar Seri Begawan is located on the North bank of the Brunei River.
