Getting around in El Nido

It’s quite easy to get around this small town. You can either walk to nearby establishments or ride a tricycle. You can even opt to rent out a scooter/motorbike while you’re in the area. This usually costs around 500 pesos a day.

To get to El Nido, you need to either fly to Puerto Princesa via Puerto Princesa International Airport or Coron via Francisco B. Reyes Airport.

From Puerto Princesa, you can take another flight to El Nido or choose the more common and practical option of riding a van or bus. Land travel from Puerto Princesa to El Nido usually takes around 5 to 6 hours and costs around 500 pesos. You can also get to El Nido from Coron by riding a ferry. This takes 4 hours and the fare is a bit more pricey at around 1,700 pesos for regular passengers.

• Small Lagoon and Big Lagoon

These two are definitely a must visit in El Nido. • Twin Beach: Nacpan and Calitang

These long stretches of white sand beach can be seen by climbing up the viewpoint. The untouched atmosphere makes it a great place to just swim and chill out with some food and beer. Unlike the other attractions, it is less crowded here. The beaches can be reached via motorbike or tricycle.

• Matinloc Island

Another beautiful island in the Bacuit archipelago, Matinloc is known for the stunning panoramic views you can view from the top of its limestone formations. Because of the diversity of corals and other marine life in this area, its a great place to try swimming and snorkeling. Matinloc island is part of El Nido boat tour C.

• Snake Island

Part of tour B, this S-shaped sandbar appears during low tide and cuts across Bacuit Bay. You can actually walk from this island to the main island through the sandbar. You’ll be able to spot some starfish across the sand so be sure to take some photos but do not disturb them.

• Hidden Beach

If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, try going to hidden beach. To get here, you have to swim through a small crevice in the rock formations. But once you make it across, you’ll get to swim in your own little paradise hidden by limestone rocks. You can get here via boat tour C but if you book a private tour, you’ll be able to have the whole place to yourselves.
