About Huai An

Huai'an until end of 2001 is a prefecture-level city in the middle of Jiangsu area of Eastern China. Huai'an located almost straight south of Lianyungang, northwest of Yancheng, southeast of Suqian, almost directly north of Nanjing and Yangzhou, and northwest of Chuzhou (Anhui). Huai'an is a comparatively small city in Chinese terms. Still, it produced two of the most significant people in Chinese history called Wu Cheng'en (1500–1582), writer of the Journey to the West, Ming Dynasty novelist and Zhou Enlai (1898–1976), protuberant Communist Party of China leader, Premier of the People's Republic of China from 1949 till end of his life.

The airport located in the town of Chenshi in Lianshui County about 22 kilometres northeast of the city centre. The building of the airport started in October 2008 with a total asset of 800 million yuan, and commercial flights began its first flight in September 2010. On 2011, its first full year of operation, Huai'an Airport handled more than 230,000 passengers to become the top 100 busiest airports in China. It was made by Zhu Yuanzhang which is the founder of the emperor of the Ming dynasty, in 1385, for his great-grandfather (posthumously styled Emperor Heng), great-great-grandfather (posthumously styled Emperor Xuan), and grandfather (posthumously styled Emperor Yu). It is also the real funeral place of Zhu Chuyi, Zhu Yuanzhang's grandfather.
