Probolinggo Station is a first-class category railway station and is +5 meters above sea level.
Specifically, this station is located in Mayangan, Probolinggo, under Jember Operation Area IX. This station is a connector between the Banyuwangi and Surabaya routes and is the only station that serves passengers to the Probolinggo area.
According to its history, this station was built by Staatsspoorwegen (SS) on 16th May 1878. At first, the railway line was constructed only from Surabaya to Pasuruan, but it was extended to Probolinggo and then inaugurated on 3rd May 1884. After that, in 1895, the line was reconnected from Probolinggo to Klakah. That is why the Netherlands decided to build a station in Probolinggo.
Probolinggo Station has been standing strong until now because of the renovation result by PT KAI in 2013-2014. Nonetheless, the building shape is close to its origin in the 20th century, with minimalist western architecture.
