People who live in Serang should know about Serang Station. Visitors can go there to catch the train to and from Serang. This railway stop is a class II one, run by PT KAI Jakarta Operation Area (Daop). Although the building looks simple, it has a long history.
It's about 123 years old since Serang Station (SG) opened on July 1, 1900. Yes, it has become a part of Indonesia's cultural history. Along with carrying people, it was also used to move agriculture and horticultural goods when it first started running.
At first, the station had four train lines. Line 2 was straight. However, line 4 has been taken apart because it is rarely or never used. Serang Station is, in fact, the biggest in Serang City. That's just the office; it takes up 44,373 square meters. Other places are bigger than that.

As one of the senior stations in Indonesia, Serang Station also holds many unique facts that you may not have known before. Let's take a look at some unique facts related to Serang Station, as follows:
The building at Serang Station has European architecture facing west. It has a gable roof complete with doors and large windows. Until now, the building has remained the same, and there has been no significant renovation. And that's why it was designated as a cultural heritage building.
The designation of Serang Station as a cultural heritage building has been registered with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. With the registration number RNCB.2010018.02.000604 based on the Regulation of the Minister of Culture and Tourism Number: PM. 02/PW.007/MKP/2010. That's why the building is more or less the same.
Serang Station has indeed become a witness to history in Indonesia. It was initially used to transport Dutch people and officials to Batavia or Jakarta in the colonial era. Now it is the mode of transportation for the Indonesian people on both routes, namely Rangkasbitung and Merak.
One fun fact is that Serang Station opened simultaneously as the 34-km Rangkasbitung-Serang route. The state railway company Staatsspoorwegen (SS) opened it for the first time in 1900.
