The airport is classified as a Class 2 principal (minor domestic) airport by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, a body of the Department of Transportation and Communications that is responsible for the operations of not only this airport but also of all other airports in the Philippines except the major international airports. The main airline that serves the flight route is Cebu Pacific.

  • Hot Spring - About 6 kilometers southwest of Mambajao, Esperanza hot spring is one of the popular attractions in the island province. The vents of Hibok-hibok heat the hot spring and mostly packed with visitors during night time. There are different levels and different temperatures according to preferences. Besides that, Tangub Hot Spring is located around 12 kilometers west of Mambajao. It is a volcanic hot spring below the sea bed with water temperatures running from cold to lukewarm to hot depending on the tides.
  • Mantigue and White Island - Located about 3 kilometers offshore from Mahinog, Mantigue island has a 4-hectare forest with white sand beaches and corals as well as a deep drop off for snorkeling and diving. This island is located nearby White Island. The boat, which costs around 300 pesos, can access the island. This island also gives a pleasant view of Mt. Hibok-Hibok which blends with the sea’s crystal clear waters and the island’s fine white sands. If you want to stay longer at White Island, you must make sure to bring some food and drinks because the only food you can buy here is urchins with vinegar.
  • Katibawasan Falls - Katibawasan Falls is a fantastic attraction located about 5 kilometers southeast of Mambajao hidden inside a dense forest full of large vines and trees. It is a clear stream of water dropping 70 meters down into a rock pool with gorgeous tropical foliage framing this beautiful waterfall. The water gets deeper as you get close to the falls. Katibasawan Falls used to be much wider, but a strong typhoon caused several solid rocks to fall on it and shortened its size.
