The room was neat and basic with no frills, but roomy and functional. Certain furnishing and fixtures were rather aged and not in tip-top condition (visible defects such as cracks in the bath tub), but nothing major and not a cause for complaint. However, the soundproofing of the room wasn't good-could rather easily hear the noises from the neighboring room. A major plus of this hotel is that it offers complimentary parking in its small private car park. The location is also almost unparalleled from a convenience/sightseeing/shopping perspective. An MRT station is at its doorstep and Dhoby Ghaut and Bugis are just a short distance away.

About Singapore

About

Singapore, often referred to as the Lion City, is a small island city-state located in Southeast Asia. Despite its modest size, Singapore boasts a rich cultural tapestry and a dynamic economy that has propelled it onto the global stage. With an estimated population of over 6.2 million people in 2024, it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world.

One of Singapore's most striking features is its impressive skyline, dominated by towering skyscrapers and iconic landmarks such as the Marina Bay Sands resort and the futuristic Supertree Grove at Gardens by the Bay. This modern architectural landscape stands in stark contrast to the city-state's colonial-era buildings and historic neighbourhoods, providing visitors with a fascinating blend of old and new.

Singapore's success as a global financial hub can be attributed to its strategic location, efficient infrastructure, and business-friendly environment. The country is home to numerous multinational corporations and financial institutions, making it a magnet for skilled professionals and entrepreneurs from around the world.

In addition to its economic prowess, Singapore is renowned for its clean and green environment. Despite its urbanization, the city-state has made significant efforts to preserve its natural heritage, with extensive parks, nature reserves, and botanical gardens scattered throughout the island. The Singapore Botanic Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a prime example of the country's commitment to conservation.

Singapore's diverse population reflects its status as a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities. The country's multicultural heritage is evident in its cuisine, which features a tantalizing array of dishes influenced by Chinese, Malay, Indian, and Western traditions. Hawker centers, bustling food markets where locals gather to enjoy affordable and delicious meals, are a beloved institution in Singapore.

Despite its small size, Singapore offers a wealth of attractions and activities for visitors to enjoy. From world-class shopping malls and luxury resorts to vibrant nightlife and cultural festivals, there is something for everyone in this dynamic city-state. Whether you're exploring the bustling streets of Chinatown, relaxing on the pristine beaches of Sentosa Island, or admiring the stunning skyline from the Singapore Flyer observation wheel, Singapore never fails to captivate and inspire.

How to Get to Singapore

Getting to Singapore is relatively easy thanks to its well-connected transportation infrastructure. The country is served by an award-winning international airport, making air travel the most popular and convenient option for visitors from around the world. Changi Airport, consistently ranked among the best airports globally, offers direct flights to major cities across all continents, ensuring seamless connectivity.

For those traveling by air, Changi Airport provides a plethora of options for onward travel into the city. The airport is served by various transportation modes, including taxis, airport shuttles, and the efficient Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system. Taxis are readily available at designated taxi stands outside the arrival halls, providing a convenient door-to-door service to your destination.

Another convenient option for reaching Singapore is by train. The country is connected to Malaysia via the Johor-Singapore Causeway and the Malaysia-Singapore Second Link, allowing travelers to access Singapore by train from Kuala Lumpur and other Malaysian cities. The Woodlands Train Checkpoint in Singapore serves as the main railway station for international train services.

For those traveling from neighboring countries, buses offer an affordable and convenient mode of transportation to Singapore. Several bus operators operate cross-border services, connecting Singapore with Malaysia, Thailand, and other nearby destinations. The Queen Street Bus Terminal and the Golden Mile Complex are popular hubs for international bus services in Singapore.

Additionally, travelers can opt for sea transport to reach Singapore. The country's strategic location along major shipping routes has made it a prominent maritime hub in the region. Cruise ships frequently call at the Singapore Cruise Centre, offering travelers the opportunity to arrive in Singapore by sea and explore the city's attractions before continuing their journey. With frequent ferry services operating between Batam and Singapore, travelers from neighboring countries can enjoy a convenient and scenic voyage across the Strait of Singapore.

Getting Around Singapore

Singapore boasts a comprehensive and efficient transportation system, making it easy for residents and visitors alike to get around the city-state. The backbone of Singapore's public transportation network is the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, which consists of an extensive network of trains that connect various parts of the island. With over 140 stations spread across six main lines, the MRT provides convenient and reliable transportation for commuters and tourists.

In addition to the MRT, Singapore's bus network offers extensive coverage, with over 300 bus routes operating throughout the island. Buses are a popular mode of transportation for short-distance travel and provide connectivity to areas not served by the MRT. The bus system is integrated with the MRT, allowing commuters to transfer seamlessly between modes of transport using a single fare card, known as the EZ-Link card.

For those looking for a more flexible and personalized mode of transportation, taxis are readily available in Singapore. Taxis can be hailed on the street or booked in advance through various mobile apps. With a fleet of modern and well-maintained vehicles, taxis offer a comfortable and convenient way to navigate the city, especially for travelers with luggage or those traveling late at night when public transportation options may be limited.

Another popular mode of transportation in Singapore is cycling. The city-state has made significant investments in cycling infrastructure, including dedicated bike lanes and park connectors, making it safe and convenient for cyclists to explore the island. Visitors can rent bicycles from various rental shops or use bike-sharing services such as SG Bike, Anywheel, and HelloBike to pedal their way around Singapore's many attractions.

For those seeking a unique and scenic way to explore Singapore, river taxis offer an alternative mode of transportation along the Singapore River. These traditional bumboat taxis ferry passengers between popular landmarks such as Clarke Quay, Boat Quay, and Marina Bay, providing a leisurely and picturesque way to see the city from the water.

We chose to stay in this particular hotel due to their large room. Found out that the room had not been properly cleaned but too tired to change rooms. Public transportation is good with a bus stop at exactly in front of the hotel and nearest MRT within 15 mins walk. Breakfast menu is alright, not the best but not the worst either. We don't have good experience with the breakfast service but quite pointless to lay it out here though. For a future visit, will likely consider staying at this hotel but opt for no breakfast.
