Farrer Road MRT station is an underground MRT station on the Circle line in Singapore, located on the border of the planned areas of Farrer Court (Bukit Timah) and Tyersall (Tanglin). It is located near the Farrer Gardens Estate and is built beneath Farrer Road, the thoroughfare that lends the station its name. Roland John Farrer, President of the Municipal Commissioners from 1919 to 1931, was honoured with the name Farrer Road. On 11 January 2007, the station was renamed Farrer Road to avoid confusion with Farrer Park MRT Station. The station provides service to the surrounding Farrer Gardens housing development, as well as a number of condominiums and private residences, schools, and houses of worship. Farrer Road station is located between the intersections of Empress Road and Woollerton Park, beneath its namesake road.
The unique part about this particular MRT Station is that it has a section featuring various artworks for commuters to enjoy during transit. Art Lineage by Erzan Adam is the artwork presented in this station as part of the Art in Transit program. Members of the public were allowed to paint coloured lines in whatever way they wanted on three canvases in this community project, which used lines as a crucial feature to emphasise unity in art and in the community. The artist then digitised and overlaid the pictures to create a single work, which is presently on display in the station's lift shaft.
