These carvings are situated on the upper and southern sides of the lagoon.   • Bacolod Public Plaza - One of the notable landmarks of Bacolod City, the capital of Negros Occidental, Philippines, is the Bacolod Public Plaza, officially the Plaza del six de Noviembre, named after the day of the Spanish surrender of Negros Island to the revolutionaries of Negros. It is situated in the core of downtown, close the ancient city hall and across from the San Sebastian Cathedral. The plaza is a trapezoidal park with a row of trees around the periphery and a gazebo in the middle. There are four circular pools scattered within the forests.
  • The Ruins - Another appeal in Metro Bacolod is The Ruins. It is known as Negros ' Taj Mahal because of its history. The Ruins is one of the city's most photographic attractions. The location is also by many a favorite venue for parties. The Ruins are remnants of the 1920s mansion with its Neo-Roman architectural design, constructed by sugar plantation proprietor Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson, in what is said and re-told for his enduring love and memory of his Portuguese spouse, Maria Braga. The Americans instructed the building to be demolished during World War II to avoid the Japanese from using it as a prison. The first building was constructed in the 1900s.
