• Hoesan White Lotus Pond – Hoesan White Lotus Pond, or Hoesan Baekryeonji in Korean, features a spectacular scenery of white lotuses. With a total area of approximately 330,000 square meters, it is certainly the largest habitat of white lotus in Asia. This area began with plantation of only 12 white lotuses on this reservoir which served as a water source for agricultural irrigation and now has grown more than thirty different lotus species. Visitors will experience crossing a bridge looking over the pond full of lotuses that you probably would not see anywhere else. If you happen to be in Muan in July or August, you should also not miss The White Lotus Festival held here annually.
• The Birthplace of Cho Eui Seon Sa – Cho Eui Seon Sa was a prominent Buddhist monk during the late Joseon era who was born in the year 1786 and died in the year 1866. He was admired for his personal cultural development, master of tea making and became an inspirational figure for the revival of Buddhism during the war times. The city restored its birthplace in the year 1997 to be a memorial museum. Every April 5^th, the birthdate of Cho Eui Seon Sa, Cho Eui Seon Sa Culture Festival is held to commemorate the heritage of the tea making. It attracts many tourists as well as tea enthusiasts.
• Muan Ecological Tidal Flat Center – Since the opening of the Muan Foreshore Experience Center in the year 2011, Muan foreshore has become the top wetlands conservation area within South Korea. It is also a designated Ramsar Site and habitat to various endangered bird species. Within the ecological park, visitors can look forward to a unique mud flat experience by stepping in the mudflat yourselves. There is also a designated camping site nearby for visitors to camp overnight. This site also hosts the annual Muan Red Clay Mud Flat Festival every mid-June which features many exciting activities for the attendees.
