Taipei officially Taipei City is the capital city and a special metropolitan area of Taiwan (officially the Republic of China, "ROC"). Located in northern Taiwan, Taipei City is a region of the city of New Taipei City that located about 25 km (16 mi) southwest of the northern port city Keelung. Most of the metropolis is in the Taipei Basin, an antique lakebed. The basin is surrounded by the relatively thin valleys of the Keelung and Xindian rivers, which combine to form the Tamsui River along the city's western border.
The greatest time to visit Taipei is between March until the end of May. During this period, the average temperatures are at a bearable 22.1°C, rising from the winter depths but not yet at the summer highs. The cherry trees are still solid with their beautiful blossoms and the rainfall is comparatively light (around 176 mm per month) because it is in between the two monsoon seasons and before the typhoon season begins.

The weather in Taipei includes wet summers, hot, and cold, dry winters due to Taiwan's subtropical atmosphere and Pacific Ocean spot. As the island is hit with both rainy season phases, it is known for its regular rainy days, with Pacific typhoons adding 2 or 3 big storms every year. The wetness rarely drops below 70 %, making cold times feel extremely cold and hot days feel very humid. Taipei has four different seasons, like any temperate environment. However, many counts only the long summers (May up to September) and winters (November up to March), with spring and autumn (April and October separately) being relatively brief. Rainfall is unstable, which you might have two weeks of endless rain or two weeks of bright sunshine.
