Xiangfan is the joint name of Xiangyang and Fancheng. It has been established as a city since 1950 and was recognised nationally by State Council as a city renowned for its history and culture. With more than 2800 years of history, it is the first well-preserved ancient town in China. In terms of weather, the best times to visit Xiangfan are during spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October), when most of the popular places have their most tourism-friendly weather. For the traveller who hates crowds however are advised to avoid visiting during the festival and holidays such as the Labor Day Holiday (May 1-3), Chinese National Day Holiday (October 1-7) and Chinese New Year Holiday (in late January or early to mid-February). Mactan–Cebu International Airport – The Mactan–Cebu International Airport is an international airport that connects the city of Cebu with the outside world. The airport is located in Lapu-Lapu City on Mactan Island, a part of Metro Cebu. It is the second busiest international airport in the Philippines. The airlines that operate in this airport is AirAsia Philippines, Cebgo, Cebu Pacific, PAL Express, and Philippine Airlines. This airport consists of two different terminals. Xianfang Airport (XFN) – Xiangyang Airport is 18 kilometres northeast of downtown Xianfang. The airport operates flights to various major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Wenzhou, Xiamen, Xi'an and Chongqing. Xiangyang Airport only caters to domestic flights. Therefore travellers from Cebu will first need to depart in one of the major cities in China such as Beijing or Chengdu and from there make their way to Xiangfan.

Climate pattern in Cebu and Xiangfan

Xiangfan enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of about 16 C. In the summer it is warm and wet, and in the winter, it is cold and dry. The temperature goes up quickly in spring, and rainstorms are frequent in this area during summer. In autumn, travellers will see overcast and cloudy skies and frequent rain. The best time to visit Xiangfan is from June until August when you will have a pleasant or warm temperature and limited to little rainfall. The highest average temperature in Xiangfan is 27°C in July and the lowest is -17°C in January.

Highlights attractions in Xiangfan

• Gulongzhong - Gulongzhong is a beautiful, historic scenic park surrounding the former residence of Zhu Geliang. At the entrance of the park, a three-door facade is erected. Three characters, "Gu Long Zhong" can be seen carved at the centre of the facade. Here in Gulangzhong, travellers will also be able to the thatched cottage where Liu Bei visited three times to persuade Zhu Geliang to work with him. There are also smaller attractions in the park, such as the Gubo Gazebo and Longzhong Academy. You can visit these sites as well.
• Xiangyang Ancient City - Xiangyang Ancient City is located in the Xiangcheng District of Xiangfan City. The Han River passes through Xiangfan City, dividing the city into the Xiangcheng district in the South, and the Fancheng District in the North. Each side of Xiangyang Ancient City are surrounded by water, which made this city easy to defend and difficult to attack in ancient times. It has been known as the “iron-clad city of Xiangfan”. The ancient city is also full of historical stories. There are thirty-one chapters in the famous Ming dynasty novel, "The Romance of the Three Kingdoms" that mentions Xiangfan. In the popular Wuxia novels, "The Legend of the Condor Heroes" and "The Condor Heroes," most of the plot takes place in Xiangfan.
• Lumen Temple - Nestled in lush natural surroundings, Lumen temple is not only an important religious landmark but also a picturesque monument. It is a Buddhist temple located in Xiangfan, Hubei, China. It is located about 15 kilometres south of Xiangfan City and was built in the Jianwu Period of the Eastern Han Dynasty. It has been a gathering place for Buddhists and scholars since the Han and Tang Dynasties. The temple has played many parts in history, one such example being during the late Han Dynasty, Pang Degong (the great poet of the Tang Dynasty), Meng Haoran, and Pi used the temple as a hiding place. Despite being destroyed by fire during the Ming dynasty, the temple has been repaired repeatedly since the beginning of the Qing Dynasty. It is now considered as the main tourist attraction in Xiangfan.
