It is spread across an area of 5.6 square kilometres and is located near the River Musi. A large monumental statue of the Gautama Buddha, created in 1992, stands on Gibraltar Rock in the centre of the lake. It also split the city centre of Hyderabad from its neighbourhood called Secunderabad. The maximum depth of the lake is approximately 33 feet.
