Cebu is not only a favorite holiday destination for foreigners, but local Filipinos also love it. The white sandy beaches, tasty eateries, exquisite retail shops and fantastic dive sites are just amongst a few reasons why Cebu is loved by many. Cebu is now the most densely populated island in the Philippines.
If you are planning a visit to Cebu, December to February would be the best months to visit. During these few months, the weather is warmer, and rainfall is less frequent. The sun from December to February is also brighter, giving Cebu clearer skies and weather that Is more suitable for outdoor activities. However, it is best to avoid traveling to Cebu from July to September as this is the monsoon season. Flight tickets and hotels may be cheaper during this period, but weather is very uncertain.
Legazpi Airport (LGP) - The Legazpi Airport, located 15km from town is the main airport in the Bicol region. The airport serves the surrounding areas of Legazpi, the capital city of Albay. To get to Legazpi city from the airport, you may head out of the airport gate and get a tricycle from there. Tricycle usually cost around P50 one way. One trip will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you walk to the road outside, you may take jeepneys to the Albay district or Daraga city. Even though Legazpi airport is a rather small airport which consists of a single-story building, it is equipped with a waiting area and a tour desk.
Mactan Cebu International Airport (CEB) - The Mactan Cebu International Airport is located in the heart of Mactan City. The airport is the second busiest International Airport in the Philippines and it serves Cebu city, the Cebu metropolitan area and Central Visayas. Its location right in the middle of town makes it convenient to get to and from the airport. The most convenient way to the Mactan Cebu International Airport is via taxi. There are two taxis to choose from the white taxi and a yellow taxi. Another way to get to the airport is by bus from SM City Cebu which leaves to the airport every 30 minutes. A bus ride to the airport will cost you only PHP 40 one way.
Both Legazpi and Cebu share a very similar climate. Both have tropical climates with hot weather and rain throughout the year and a very similar average temperature. Cebu is just slightly warmer than Legazpi with an average temperature of 27.5 degrees Celsius while the average temperature in Legazpi is 27.1 degrees Celsius. There is a large difference in the amount of rainfall between the two cities as Legazpi receives an annual amount of 3104 mm of rain compared to Cebu, which only receives 1607mm of rain annually.
