Best time to fly from Legazpi to Cebu

If you are planning a visit to Cebu, December to February would be the best months to visit. During these few months, the weather is warmer, and rainfall is less frequent. The sun from December to February is also brighter, giving Cebu clearer skies and weather that Is more suitable for outdoor activities. However, it is best to avoid traveling to Cebu from July to September as this is the monsoon season. Flight tickets and hotels may be cheaper during this period, but weather is very uncertain.


Main airports available in Legazpi and Cebu

Legazpi Airport (LGP) - The Legazpi Airport, located 15km from town is the main airport in the Bicol region. The airport serves the surrounding areas of Legazpi, the capital city of Albay. To get to Legazpi city from the airport, you may head out of the airport gate and get a tricycle from there. Tricycle usually cost around P50 one way. One trip will take approximately 15 minutes, depending on traffic. If you walk to the road outside, you may take jeepneys to the Albay district or Daraga city. Even though Legazpi airport is a rather small airport which consists of a single-story building, it is equipped with a waiting area and a tour desk.


Mactan Cebu International Airport (CEB) - The Mactan Cebu International Airport is located in the heart of Mactan City. The airport is the second busiest International Airport in the Philippines and it serves Cebu city, the Cebu metropolitan area and Central Visayas. Its location right in the middle of town makes it convenient to get to and from the airport. The most convenient way to the Mactan Cebu International Airport is via taxi. There are two taxis to choose from the white taxi and a yellow taxi. Another way to get to the airport is by bus from SM City Cebu which leaves to the airport every 30 minutes. A bus ride to the airport will cost you only PHP 40 one way.


Climate pattern in Legazpi and Cebu

Both Legazpi and Cebu share a very similar climate. Both have tropical climates with hot weather and rain throughout the year and a very similar average temperature. Cebu is just slightly warmer than Legazpi with an average temperature of 27.5 degrees Celsius while the average temperature in Legazpi is 27.1 degrees Celsius. There is a large difference in the amount of rainfall between the two cities as Legazpi receives an annual amount of 3104 mm of rain compared to Cebu, which only receives 1607mm of rain annually.

  • Basilica Minorel del Santo Nino - The Basilica Minorel del Santo Nino is Cebu's holiest church. The basilica houses the revered Flemish statue of the Christ Child Santo Nino which dates back to Magellan's time. The church which was built in 1565 is also the first church to be built in the Philippines. The church was destroyed by fire three times. An earthquake in 2013 severely damages the churches façade, but it has now been restored.
  • Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary - The Olango Island Wildlife Sanctuary is a 1030-hectare area of sand flats and mangroves and is home to important wildlife reserves. The sanctuary is located only 20 minutes from Mactan and is home to the largest concentration of migratory birds in the Philippines. Visitors to the park can enjoy bird watching and kayaking through the mangroves.
  • Museo Sugbo - Amongst one of the must-see museums in Cebu is the Museo Sugbo, a museum which houses several galleries. The museum is laid out in a sturdy old coral-stone building which was once used as Cebu's provincial prison from 1870 to 2004. The second floor of the museum houses a WWII gallery which contains an American bomb that was dropped in Cebu, a Japanese propaganda newspaper and various other WWII memorabilia.
